Chapter 1755: 1408: He Said His Surname Is Bai (Part 2)

<strong>Chapter 1755: Chapter 1408: He Said His Surname Is Bai (Part 2)</strong>

Perhaps Berman has already made arrangements with them, asking them to drag things out!

Back then, I heard that Berman was highly favored in the race for the city’s mayorship, and could likely be the next Mayor of Haru City.

Facing someone who might be the future mayor, how could the heads of those two departments not be “obedient”!

However, under the “separation of powers” system, the municipal government has independent oversight departments, so they can’t all be swayed by Mr. Berman’s influence.

“Didn’t you file aint with the relevant oversight department?” Bai Xiaosheng asked.

“Yes, we lodged aint today.” Grace said, somewhat dejected, “But the Pharmaceutical Administration and the City Safety Department presented evidence against us and silenced the oversight department directly.”

“What adverse evidence?” Bai Xiaosheng inquired in surprise.

Grace looked rather ufortable, “Those two departments cited our unauthorized development of biopharmaceuticals as a potential threat to society and took coercive measures against us.”

“Our project was initially managed by Vice President Logan, but he didn’tplete the formal procedures. You know he’s always wanted to im our results as his own, which offers the most room for maniption. After the incident, Logan was absolutely unwilling to speak for us, and our only recourse was to obtain recognition from the college, admitting that there was a mistake in their work and that we were a legitimate research project, in order to refute the allegations.”

Grace spoke through gritted teeth, “But the college refused to acknowledge it! They even imed we misused college resources for unauthorized research and were suspected of infringing on Vice President Logan’s research content! It’s infuriating!”

In her anger, Grace’s hands gripping the steering wheel turned pale with tension.

So, these were the adverse allegations!

Bai Xiaosheng understood that Haru Medical College, concerned for its reputation and backed by Ma Tianqing, the new major shareholder, had given unfavorable testimony. Those two departments used this as evidence to silence the oversight department, smoothly proceeding with usations and investigations against Lai Yin’s Team.

They yed their cards well! Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but nod.

Furthermore, was the cause of this entire incident Mr. Berman’s retaliatory action against them trespassing the estate, or was it prompted by Ma Tianqing’s instruction?

Bai Xiaosheng now felt that it was abination of both.

Mr. Berman, being a big businessman, a senator, and a Justice of the Peace among other identities, could not simply forbear such affront without any anger.

That Ma Tianqing might have quietly bid his time, but he likely instigated Berman, using him like a pawn!

“However, if you’re bold enough to trouble me, don’t me me for being ruthless!” Bai Xiaosheng’s eyes turned steely.

Even though this was a foreignnd, and he was facing a local figure like Berman, he still intended to make them realize another saying from the East, “a fierce dragon cross a river”, in addition to “a strong dragon cannot suppress a local snake”.

“Grace, we’re not going back to the base, we’re heading straight to the municipal government!” Bai Xiaosheng dered.

Grace couldn’t help but nce at him, “Aren’t you going to put your things down and rest a bit first?”

In her view, the situation here was very troublesome, not something that could be resolved in a day or two. Their research team had even prepared for a protracted battle, thinking that Bai Xiaosheng would arrive and discuss it with him, for in handling such issues, the collective wisdom of their researchers was likely not evenparable to a single finger of Bai Xiaosheng.<fne6d7> Checktest chapters at find?novel</fne6d7>

Thus, several members of their team were waiting at home.

“I’m going to meet Lai Yin.” Bai Xiaosheng said calmly, “And bring him back!”

Bai Xiaosheng’s words nearly caused Grace to hit the wrong pedal. She looked at Bai Xiaosheng in surprise.

Lai Yin had just been taken this morning, and even intervention by the oversight department had been fruitless. Yet Bai Xiaosheng had just arrived and imed he would bring him back that very afternoon?

Had it been someone else saying that, it would have beenpletely irrational and unscientific.

Grace might have given them a disdainful look, showing her scorn.

But it was Bai Xiaosheng who said it, and Grace couldn’t help but believe it.

After all, Bai Xiaosheng had surprisingly helped them before.

“Alright, we’re going to the municipal government right now!” Grace said, turning the wheel.

Once the car was smoothly on the road, she couldn’t help but look at Bai Xiaosheng and asked, “Sheng, are you telling the truth?”

Bai Xiaosheng looked at Grace, smiled, and told her word by word, “I never brag!”

In the Safety Department of the Haru Municipal Government, inside an interrogation room.

Lai Yin looked at the two interrogators before him with great displeasure, as their questioning just now had practically treated him like a criminal.

“I am a researcher, and my research, conducted at Haru Medical College for several years, is legal and safe. You can investigate it. Even if they won’t admit it, you can find out from others.” Lai Yin said loudly.

A slightly plump Caucasian investigator looked at him with indifference, zily saying, “Why are you yelling? Do we need you to teach us how to do our job? You’d better exin your own issues!”

His tone entirely treated Lai Yin like a criminal!

“My issues? I don’t have any issues! You baselessly used me from the start!” Lai Yin shouted angrily.

“Don’t waste our time, you bastard!” said a sallow-faced colleague of the Caucasian investigator impatiently, even adding threateningly, “If necessary, we can give you a hard time!”

“Then try it!” Lai Yin retorted fiercely.

Just then, the door to the interrogation room opened, and three people walked in from outside.

Lai Yin looked over, his eyes narrowing as he recognized them.
