Chapter 236: Chapter 238: Triggering the Wipeout Effect
The battle was about to erupt...no, it was more like a massacre waiting to happen.
Our side was simply no match for these Dead Shadows, so most of the Shadows hardly had any will to fight, each thinking about leaving.
Even Black Hawk, the boss, felt the same way, but knowing he couldn’t escape alone, he decided to take Qin Muye with him.
If the other side had the ability to open the seal of the Shadow Realm left by the Yin Mountain Army, they must have a way to get him out of this damned place.
So, taking advantage of everyone’s inattention, he grabbed Qin Muye in one fell swoop, wings as hard as steel appeared on his back, and resolutely charged out with Qin Muye.
Even Cold Ghost and Shan Ta, who followed by his side, hadn’t reacted when Black Hawk had already taken his leave, half-flying and half-gliding past the dead Shadows of the Yin Mountain Army and out of the palace.
...
Nobody expected things to turn out this way; morale, already on the brink of collapse, crumbled in an instant.
Cold Ghost and Shan Ta also hadn’t anticipated ending up in such an infuriating situation.
Black Hawk’s speed was extremely fast, and even carrying a person with him, there weren’t many who could catch up. As for the Dead Shadows, a small squad was dispatched to pursue and kill Black Hawk.
However, the remaining Dead Shadows became fully vigilant to prevent anyone else from escaping, and the slaughter began instantly. Even Shan Ta, in his thickest armor, was pierced through the chest by a spear, and Cold Ghost, nimble as he was, couldn’t dodge within the Formation; he died even more miserably than Shan Ta, riddled with holes all over his body.
On the other side, Black Hawk was rushing along with Qin Muye.@@@@
“Kid, think fast and find the exit of the Shadow Realm, or we’re both going to die here,” said Black Hawk, panting, without pausing and continuing their escape.
It seemed that maintaining such speed in flight was far from effortless, especially since it was an overload and also involved carrying Qin Muye, increasing the expenditure of energy.
“Shadow Realm? That should be the Underworld, right? I knew where the exit was before, but after you left, I’m not sure anymore,” Qin Muye remarked with a teasing tone.
“You mean the exit is inside the palace!” Black Hawk exclaimed, shock washing over him before cursing, “Why didn’t you say so earlier?”
“You didn’t ask. If you had, I would have told you,” Qin Muye retorted as if Black Hawk had a problem.
The exit to the Shadow Realm was indeed within the palace, but Black Hawk, thinking himself clever, insisted on taking him away, and now the result was self-evident—they were lost within the Shadow Realm.
With the speed at which Black Hawk had been flying, there was no telling where they had ended up.
“Is there any other way?” Black Hawk was at a loss for words, realizing it was impossible to go back.
The Dead Shadows left by the Yin Mountain Army’s soldiers were far too terrifying; Black Hawk couldn’t hope to deal with them.
It was as if something fiercer was coming.
Black Hawk, having escaped death, breathed a sigh of relief. He had thought it was Qin Muye’s doing.
Qin Muye, on the other hand, suggested, “The Dead Shadows of the Yin Mountain Army are about to catch up. Should we make a run for it?”
“What? That wasn’t you?” Black Hawk wasn’t foolish; he realized that it wasn’t Qin Muye that had scared off the Shadow Monster, but their pursuers.
After glancing at his damaged Shadow, he could only smile bitterly, “Can’t run; that Shadow Monster damaged my Shadow. To recover, it will take at least three days.”
“Flight is even more impossible, look.”
Saying this, Black Hawk showed his wings on his back, which had been torn to shreds by the Shadow Monster’s sharp claws.
“That’s really too bad. Do you have any last words?” Qin Muye said regretfully.
“Wait, why were you unharmed just now?” Black Hawk suddenly realized and asked with a serious expression.
“Oh, because I’m not a Shadow. They only target awakened Shadows. Otherwise, why don’t you try completely destroying your own Shadow? Maybe then they will let you go,” Qin Muye said with a hint of temptation.
Listening to these words, Black Hawk’s face turned shades of pale and green; he had no idea what would happen if he destroyed his Shadow.
It’s possible he could never recover and would revert from being a Shadow back to a normal person, or it might not fool the Dead Shadows and Shadow Monster at all.
But it seemed like the only chance he had right now; succeed or die.
As for escaping? That was definitely not an option. If the Dead Shadows could catch up like this, they surely had a tracking type of Shadow Ability.
“Fine, I’ll trust you this once.” Black Hawk looked at Qin Muye with a somber expression, feeling that the person before him was definitely not simple. Once he survived this crisis and left the Shadow Realm, he was resolved to kill Qin Muye; otherwise, he’d never have peace of mind.
Qin Muye, observing Black Hawk’s decisive action, was also slightly surprised; he hadn’t expected to actually bluff him successfully.
If pressed for his confidence in the plan, Qin Muye wasn’t sure himself; who knew what the Dead Shadows would think?
Regardless of whether this action succeeded or failed, it didn’t have much impact on Qin Muye. To him, the value of the Shadow Realm was not low; the Dead Shadows and Shadow Monster were quite valuable.
As for Shadow Stones and awakening a Shadow, that was not a rush. He would find a sample sooner or later to study.
He guessed that the main quest probably had something to do with the Shadow Realm; perhaps, after his investigation, he would find a clue to the main quest.
And he had also vaguely grasped a method to change his identity to cope with the main quest; while the Lord identity was an outsider, the Shadow identity would be a local resident.
