Chapter 37 Wishing You a Century of Happy Union

Chapter 37: Chapter 37 Wishing You a Century of Happy Union

His violet eyes were deep and enigmatic as he carefully observed Xiao Jinsheng’s reactions.

He noticed that aside from confusion and bewilderment, all that remained was fear.

"If you can’t remember, I can help you recall." Mo Jiao stepped forward.

Xiao Jinsheng clutched Que Zelian’s belt tightly, retreating alongside him.

"Mo Jiao, don’t act recklessly." Que Zelian’s expression darkened, his gaze dangerous as he looked at Mo Jiao.

"Why are you all so tense? It’s not like I’m nning to look into her memories." Mo Jiao scanned the five people, all exceptionally wary of him.

"Aren’t you good at hypnotism?" Mo Jiao turned to Huaiqing. "I don’t need to see her memories, but I must know what she did seven days ago."

"Whether you’ve purposefully forgotten or identally forgotten, I need to know." Mo Jiao’s gaze lingered on Xiao Jinsheng with a faint smile.

Xiao Jinsheng puffed up her face, her fair cheeks flushed with anger.

"What I didn’t do, I didn’t do!" Xiao Jinsheng shouted angrily, then turned to Huaiqing. "You want to hypnotize me to see my memories from seven days ago? On what grounds? Just because you said so?"

Huaiqing awkwardly adjusted his sses and weakly exined, "I never agreed to hypnotize you."

"If you won’t act, I’ll have to do it myself." Mo Jiao sneered coldly, a ck mist emanating from his palm.

"Mo Jiao, calm yourself." Que Zelian spoke sternly.

Though it was midday, the rainy weather rendered the sky outside dim and somber.

The thunder roared, the heavy rain poured down relentlessly, and an invisible yet powerful gust of wind arose inside the sealed house, forcing Mo Jiao downstairs.

The lights in the living room flickered erratically, appearing dim and bright in turns; the chandelier swayed, producing a series of jingling sounds.

"What now? Are you looking to fight me?" Mo Jiao allowed his outer robe and long hair to be whipped about by the wind, his violet eyes locking onto Que Zelian’s shadowed and somber gaze.

"Doesn’t matter." Que Zelian reached back and pulled Xiao Jinsheng’s hand forward, pushing her into Su Ye’s arms.

Que Zelian’s longshes lightly drooped, a murderous glint shed in his eyes, but when he raised them again to look at Mo Jiao, it was reced by a faint smile. "Just a sparring match, let’s go outside."

Equally strong as the Six Stars, how could Mo Jiao not notice the hidden killing intent Que Zelian tried to conceal?

"Alright." Mo Jiao sneered coldly and quickly walked outside.

But when he opened the door to face the raging wind and rain, he didn’t find Que Zelian waiting to challenge him.

Turning his head back, he saw Xiao Jinsheng tightly clutching Que Zelian’s waist, hanging onto him in a shameless manner. "You can’t go."

"What, afraid I’ll kill him?" Mo Jiao leaned against the doorway and mocked.

"Who would kill whom remains uncertain." Xiao Jinsheng coldly shot a re at Mo Jiao before looking up at Que Zelian. "Fight whenever you want, but not today. The rain is so heavy out there—what if you catch a cold?"

"You’re not like certain others who love living in damp, dark ces. If he wants to run through the rain, let him go; we won’t join fools in their folly."

"If you want to lose your mind in the downpour, go ahead. Just make sure to shut the door behind you. If we all catch colds from the wind, you’ll be paying for it." Xiao Jinsheng scolded Mo Jiao.

Mo Jiao’s smile froze momentarily, the scene before him cutting especially deep into his vision.

Inside the house, the warm, bright lights illuminated the Beast Husbands. Xiao Jinsheng could choose to protect Que Zelian without hesitation, yet she was always at odds with him.

Meanwhile, he stood in the shadow of the doorway. Behind himy only darkness, apanied by the mournful sound of the rain and the lonely whistle of the wind.

Mo Jiao’s heart grew restless at that moment; his face hardened, and he let out a cold chuckle. "You seem to have a good rtionship. Well, congrattions on eternal happiness."

With that, he turned and walked off into the rain.

The group watched as he disappeared into the downpour alone, each of their emotions differing.

Xiao Jinsheng chased to the doorway and called out, "You’re not allowed to leave."

Mo Jiao turned back, his gaze irritable as itnded on her. "Xiao Jinsheng, what do you want now?"

"You want to uncover my memories from seven days ago, don’t you? I agree." Xiao Jinsheng replied.

Her answer left not just Mo Jiao, but the four men inside equally surprised.

"Are you sure?" Mo Jiao hesitated.

"I’m sure." Xiao Jinsheng glowered at him in the rain. "But if you want to y the drenched fool, go ahead. I won’t stop you."

"Ha." Mo Jiao scoffed coldly but nheless strode back from the rain.

As he approached the door, Xiao Jinsheng turned and bolted, hiding behind Que Zelian again.

Mo Jiao mmed the door shut and tilted his head in confusion. "Sometimes I truly don’t understand—how does someone as cowardly as you have the guts to do business with the ck Market?"

"I already told you, I didn’t." Xiao Jinsheng retorted. Her gaze shifted away from Mo Jiao’s drenched frame before averting entirely. "I agree to Huaiqing hypnotizing me to uncover my memories from seven days ago, but I have one question."

"In that bald-headed memory you saw a transaction involving me—are you sure it’s real? No chance you were misled or made it up?"

"There’s no chance." Mo Jiao answered.

He knew Xiao Jinsheng didn’t trust him, openly stating. "I can promise the Terminal—if I lied about anything regarding Wang Nuo’s memories, you or the Terminal can obliterate me instantly."

Xiao Jinsheng hadn’t yet grasped the significance of such a pledge towards the Terminal when her Star Map disyed new information from the Terminal.

[Hello, Xiao Jinsheng. Your Beast Husband Mo Jiao has activated life-and-death permissions for you. Once activated, the permission cannot be reversed. Should Mo Jiao die, it will not damage your spiritual power. As his Female Master, you have the right to obliterate him at any time under this permission.]

"You’re insane!" Xiao Jinsheng’s shock showed inly.

She hadn’t even known the Terminal had this feature; even the narrative provided to her hadn’t mentioned Bai Yan’s Beast Husband ever granting life-and-death permissions.

This feature could only be activated by the Beast Husband. Choosing to enable it meant fully surrendering his life to his Female Master.

"Anyone who provokes me doesn’t deserve to live." Mo Jiao said coldly.

He was naturally one to repay vengeance with precision, leaving no loose ends. He had to uncover the enemy’s identity.

Xiao Jinsheng’s emotions grewplicated in that moment.

She had called Mo Jiao back from the rain, not wanting his solitary departure to impact her rtionships with the other four men.

After all, aside from Que Zelian, the other three Beast Husbands hadn’t fully reconciled with her yet.

But she hadn’t expected Mo Jiao to go to such extremes.

Despite his persistent murderous intent toward her, he was willing to entrust his life fully to her—a supposed ’enemy’—just to uncover her memories from seven days ago.

"Let’s begin." At this moment, Xiao Jinsheng began to doubt her own memories.

Mo Jiao had wagered his life to prove the authenticity of what he saw in Wang Nuo’s memories. Could it be true that seven days ago, she conducted another deal with the ck Market?

But where did the acquired Crystal Core go? And what happened to it?

Huaiqing used his superpower to summon a white flower and handed it to Xiao Jinsheng.

Following his instructions, she inhaled the floral scent and, under the guidance of his ability, her consciousness grew hazy.

"Seven days ago, what did you do?" Huaiqing asked in a soft voice, directing his question at Xiao Jinsheng, whose gaze was now unfocused.

Xiao Jinsheng’s memories followed his question, carefully reying the events.

She described everything in detail, from waking up toing downstairs—even down to the mundane details of how many sips it took her to finish a ss of water.
