Fermin''s men aimed their rifles at Bert.
Fermin led Liza downstairs and casually said, "Be careful. Don''t let anything go off by ident. The old man''s too frail for this."
"Fermin..." Liza''s face went pale.
She knew Fermin wouldn''t harm their father, but at that moment, her heart still
twisted with worry.
Outside, a luxury car pulled up. Fermin raised his hand and ordered, "Fall back."
His men quickly withdrew from the property.
Bert stood there, barely able to keep himself upright. The butler immediately stepped forward to support him. "Sir, stay strong."
"That bastard pointed a gun at me." Bert''s words were cut off by a sudden surge of something in his throat.
The next second, blood gushed from his mouth.
The butler was rmed. "Sir!"
Outside, Liza looked back at the house, worried about Bert.
He was too old to handle such a shock.
Fermin brushed it off. "Don''t worry about him. Get in the car."
Liza reluctantly sat in the passenger seat.
She''d try to talk to Fermin whenever she got the chance, hoping that one day he would change his mind. Then Bert wouldn''t have to worry anymore.
...
In Andrew''s bedroom, calming incense was burning.
After setting everything up, Barton nervously watched William examine Andrew.
"How is he? Why aren''t you talking?" he asked anxiously.
"Shh." William made a quiet gesture.
On the bed, Andrew''s face was pale, sweat beading on his forehead. His lips were dry and colorless.
"Let''s talk outside." For once, William''s tone was serious.
Barton nced at Andrew before following William out of the room.
"How long has he had these headaches?"
"He''s had them before, but not this
severe, The frequency wasn''t
high either. This time, he thiet
passed out from the pain."
Barton''s mind was still reeling from the eventst night.
Andrew had always been able to endure what most couldn''t. This was the first time he''d fainted from pain.
"I told you, didn''t I? He should''ve
gone on vacation," William sighed. "Vacation, Not switching locations to work his brain more. He should''ve been by the ocean, watched the birds in a park, or even gone bungee jumping. I told him to rx and stop overthinking. But he spent all his time worrying about things here and in Seamar City. As the saying goes, too much wisdom harms you. Don''t you or he know?"
"I advised him, but he wouldn''t listen."
"No? Then he can wait for death. Don''t bother finding another doctor. If I can''t fix
it, no one can."
Barton turned as white as a sheet.
Worry shortened life, while a rxed attitude added years. He knew that principle well, and so did Andrew.
But Andrew chose to do it anyway.
