Chapter 853 - 855: Setting the Trap

Chapter 853: Chapter 855: Setting the Trap

After separating from Long Ang, Chu Ge and hispany followed the trail of the bats.

But they didn’t drive themselves; the car was taken by Lin Dong and Lin Zhao.

Leaving Fangding Mountain, they arrived at the roadside and hailed a taxi, then got in.

The driver was a big man over fifty. Likely because the air conditioning was set high, he only wore a gray sweater, though the cor was shallow, exposing his neck.

As soon as Chu Ge got in the car, he noticed a tattoo on the driver’s neck. He had seen this tattoo before; it’s unique to the ck Witch Sect.

When Jian Chunqiu got in the car, Chu Ge gave him a signal to pay attention to the driver ahead.

Jian Chunqiu looked suspiciously, his eyesnding on the driver’s neck, and understood instantly.

The driver still didn’t know his identity had been exposed. He looked cheerfully at Chu Ge in the rearview mirror and asked, "Where are you both headed?"

    "Just head west."

    Chu Ge spoke softly.

All the bats flew in from the west, which means the ck Widow must be somewhere in the west; however, they didn’t know exactly where.

But now he wasn’t worried, after all, they had a ready-made guide right in front of them.

He didn’t believe this person just happened to be here; Chu Ge spected that this person was deliberately watching them.

Since they wanted to fish, they would pretend to take the bait and see what the ck Witch Sect intended!

The driver smiled upon hearing the address, "Where specifically in the west are you heading, gentlemen?"

"Just drive west, I’ll let you know when we get there."

The driver hesitated for a moment, then nodded, no longer asking further questions, and started the car, driving west.

The car drove west for quite a while, then the driver’s phone suddenly rang.

The driver answered with a "hello."

"Did you pick up the targets?" came a low voice from the receiver.

The driver replied affirmatively, saying no more, fearing saying too much would alert Chu Ge and Jian Chunqiu.

"You must be careful; Chu Ge and Jian Chunqiu aren’t just anyone. If anything goes wrong, don’t act rashly, and definitely don’t reveal your identity, understand?"

The driver agreed quickly. Ever since Chu Ge and Jian Chunqiu got in, he sensed an aura of authority and strength emanating from them that wasn’t easily challenged.

His task now was to guide Chu Ge and Jian Chunqiu safely into the ambush circle.

Fortunately, their Sect Hierarch was urate in predicting that they would surelye to track the bats, guiding them directly into their trap as they drove west.

The driver agreed to few instructions before the call was disconnected.

Throughout the journey, the driver constantly nced into the rearview mirror, feeling an incessant re directed at him, but whenever he looked, Chu Ge and Jian Chunqiu had their eyes closed.

    Could he be mistaken?

The driver questioned himself inwardly, thinking perhaps they detected something.

The driver considered himself clever and swiftly dismissed this thought. If Chu Ge and Jian Chunqiu knew his identity, how could they obediently remain in his car?

Having thought this, the driver settled down and continued driving west.

Yet it surprised the driver that after driving for more than ten minutes, the two in the back still had their eyes closed, not observing their surroundings at all.

The driver couldn’t help but ask, "Gentlemen, where are you headed in the west? We’re about to leave the city zone."

Upon hearing this, Chu Ge slowly opened his eyes, showing no sign of sleepiness. He smirked and let out a lightugh, "Take us where you want to take us."

A brief statement left the driver momentarily stunned, nearly forgetting he was driving, quickly refocusing on the road.

    His mind suddenly felt uneasy.

After a while, he managed an awkwardugh, "You must be joking, sir. I don’t understand what you’re saying."

Chu Ge chuckled, "You’re a disciple of the ck Witch Sect; your neck tattoo betrays you. Since you won’t admit it, it doesn’t matter. Just keep driving."

’Just keep driving’ implied that he wouldn’t be getting out of the car.

He needed toplete his task, so they should be taken where they were meant to go.

The driver had never encountered such a brazen person, almost choking on his own saliva, awkwardly clearing his throat.

He nced at the rearview mirror and noticed Chu Ge’sck of further attention, feeling slightly relieved.

His spine gave a chill, realizing Chu Ge knew his identity all along; yet despite knowing, they still got in his car, leaving him perplexed.

They said Chu Ge was intelligent; meeting him today, indeed confirmed it.

The driver thought further, and since they already suspected who he was, he decided to turn the car directly to their designated location.

Quickly, the driver took Chu Ge and Jian Chunqiu into the ambush circle.

The so-called ambush circle is actually at the foot of a hill. Unlike Fangding Mountain, it wasn’t continuous or barren, but rather could be described as lush with greenery.

The driver stopped the car, and after a small cough, said, "We’ve arrived."

Chu Ge and Jian Chunqiu got out of the car, finding themselves far from the Capital City’s center, not even near the suburban area.

Could those bats really have flown from here?

    That shouldn’t be.

Given the distance, if the bats flew this far, wouldn’t it cause a disturbance?

A sliver of suspicion crossed Chu Ge’s mind. He quickly turned, seeking the driver’s whereabouts, only to find the driver had vanished.

"No need to look, those bats flew out of this cave."

Jian Chunqiu gestured to a spot ahead.

Chu Ge, puzzled, asked, "How do you know?"

"Even though this ce is under the same climate as the Capital City, do you notice it’s distinctly more humid than when we arrived? I also caught a scent."

"What scent?" Chu Ge inquired curiously.

    "The scent of bat droppings."

"..." Chu Ge looked at him in dismay, then shook his head helplessly.

"They must have set traps here; otherwise, the driver wouldn’t have brought us here."

    Chu Ge said.

Ahead were some barriers made of branches, blocking the entrance, clearly intent on keeping them out.

But how could mere branches stop them?
