Chapter 28

Maggie hadn''t eaten dinner and was craving something warm to fill her stomach, so she agreed. As soon as she sat down, her stomach growled.

York was stunned for a moment, then suddenly realized, "Sister-inw, you... didn''t have dinner?" "Mm."

York immediately felt embarrassed. "Sorry, sister-inw, it''s all my fault..."

    "It''s fine. I wasn''t hungry before."

York looked at her gentle smile, and he felt a bit ufortable inside.

He really thought Maggie was a wonderful person.

But it was a shame that his brother just didn''t like her...

When Franklin and the others returned home after celebrating with Julia, it was already nearly 1

    AM

The butler, seeing that Franklin had returned sote with Isabe, asked with concern, "Why so

Franklin replied with a brief "Mm" and didn''t borate.

He sent Isabe back to her room, and then, upon returning to his room and turning on the light, didn''t see Maggie. He asked the butler, "She didn''te back tonight?" "Madam? No, she hasn''t returned."

    Franklin was somewhat surprised.

It seemed like Maggie hadn''t been home muchtely.

    Such frequent absences were rare.

Could something serious have happened at her family?

Isabe had been spending a lot of time with Julia recently and was having a great time.

When she woke up in the morning, she had a big smile on her face, feeling very content and in a good mood. She suddenly thought of Maggie and happily hugged her stuffed animal, rushing to the master bedroom. "Mom! Mom!" The bedroom door was open, but no one was inside.

Isabe''s face fell, and just then, Franklin came out of the walk-in closet.

She hurriedly asked, "Dad, where''s Mom?"

Franklin was slowly tying his tie and replied indifferently, "She''s not at home."

    "Not at home? Why?"

"If you want to know, ask her."

    "Okay."

Isabe picked up her phone and called Maggie.

Maggie had just finished her run and, seeing Isabe''s call, answered it without thinking. Before she could speak, Isabe asked eagerly, "Mom! Where are you?"

Maggie didn''t answer right away. Instead, she asked, "What''s up, Be? Do you need something?"

Except for Jessica, no one knew where she was staying right now.

She was really enjoying her independent life and didn''t want to be disturbed.

So, for now, she wasn''t nning to tell Isabe where she was living.

Isabe, with the phone on speaker,y on the bed that belonged to Maggie and Franklin, pouting a: she coquettishly said, "I miss you, Mom. Can you take me to school in a bit?" Maggie said, "Mom''s ce is a bit far from your school. I won''t make it in time to pick you up today Maybe next time."

"Oh. Okay." Isabe sounded a little disappointed but then immediately requested, ''Mom, you frust take me to school tomorrow morning, okay?"

Maggie hesitated and didn''t respond immediately,

She wasn''t particrly eager to go back there.

Not speaking, Maggie''s hesitation didn''t escape Franklin, who had been listening, in on the conversation.

    He was a bit surprised.

After all, despite everything going on at Maggie''s Miller family, he thought that with how much Maggie valued her daughter, she would have agreed without hesitation to fulfill this small request. Maggie said, "How about letting Dad take you instead?"

    Isabe really missed Maggie.

Her request had been denied, and she felt wronged, her eyes welling up with tears. "No, I want you to take me. You haven''t taken me to school in a while - except for yesterday." Since she insisted, Maggie said, "Okay, Mom will take you tomorrow."

She agreed, not because she felt sorry for Isabe, but because, since she had given birth to her, she had to be responsible for her.

Isabe''s face finally regained its smile.

Franklin put on his watch and noticed his daughter wanted to continue talking. He reminded her, "I you don''t go downstairs to eat breakfast soon, you''ll bete."

Isabe eximed, "Ah, I haven''t brushed my teeth or washed my face yet! Mom, I''m going to brus!

my teeth and wash my face first, I''ll talk to youter!"

Without waiting for Maggie to respond, she hurriedly hung up the phone.
