Chapter 205
“Okay…”
Maggie then asked, “Have you taken a shower?”
“Not yet, but I will soon.”
“Go take a shower first. Mom still has things to do, so I’m going to hang up now.”
“We just started talking, and you’re already hanging up?” Isabe didn’t want to end the call. She looked
at the call time and said, “Mom, we’ve only talked for two minutes. Can we talk a little longer?”
Maggie replied, “Next time when Mom is free, if you want to chat, we’ll talk more.”
Hearing Maggie say this, Isabe reluctantly replied, “Okay… but you have to keep your word.”
Maggie responded, “Okay.”
Isabe then said, “Well then… Mom, goodbye.”
Maggie: “Goodbye.”
After the call ended, Maggie hung up the phone.
Isabe, remembering that she hadn’t told her mom that she bought her a gift, was about to say it, but when she realized Maggie had already hung up, she felt disappointed.
She put the phone down and went to the study to find Franklin.
Franklin was having a video conference in the study. When he saw her approach, he turned off the camera and muted the sound, asking, “What’s wrong? Did you not get through on the phone?”
Isabe shook her head and said, “I got through to her.”
Franklin, holding her in his arms, gently rubbed her forehead with his thumb, his gaze soft as he looked at her eyes and brows that resembled his own. “You’re not happy that you got through to her?”
Isabe furrowed her brows slightly. “I’m happy, but…”
She had not spoken to her mother in such a long time. After finishing the call with her, she was still

happy, but…
Franklin asked, “But what?”
Isabe murmured, “But I feel a bit unhappy, too.”
“Sounds a bit deep, huh? But…” Franklin propped his chin with his hand and smiled. “It’s probably because you haven’t seen your mom in so long. You miss her. Once she’s free, she can spend more time with you.”
Isabe nodded but pouted, “But mom’s so busy. She said she won’t be able to spend time with me until
next month…”
“Then wait until next month. Dad will keep youpany until then.”
“Mm.”
Isabe was tired too. After chatting for a while, she yawned, got up from his embrace, and went back to
her room to rest.
The next day was New Year’s Eve.
Almost the entire morning had passed, and neither Ste nor Yancy had seen Maggie.
Her husband had returned to see the olddy during New Year’s Day, but Maggie had not been back even once. Ste thought something must have happened in the Miller family.
Yesterday, after the olddy was discharged from the hospital, Maggie was still absent.
Franklin said she was busy, and because of Maggie’s feelings for her son, Ste knew she wouldn’t easily divorce him. She hadn’t thought too much about it.
But today, it was New Year’s Eve.
Maggie didn’t have the same profession as her husband. Even if she was busy and there were major issues in the Miller family, there was no reason for her to not even make it back once over the past two
days.
So…
Around eleven o’clock, when Franklin came downstairs, Ste couldn’t help but ask, “Did you and Maggie get divorced?”

Yancy was also nearby.
Over the past two days, with Maggie absent, he had truly thought she was just busy.
At her question, he waspletely stunned.
Franklin paused, took a sip of tea, and replied calmly, “Not yet, but we are going through the process.”
Yancy widened his eyes.
So… they were really getting divorced?
Although he had always known that Franklin didn’t like Maggie, he thought they would continue on like
this.
He didn’t expect them to suddenly decide to divorce…
Ste looked at Franklin.

They had no feelings for each other, so it would be better for them to divorce.
But if he was divorcing Maggie to marry Julia-
Her face darkened, and just as she was about to speak, Franklin, likely guessing what she was about to say, stood up and said, “I’m going upstairs to attend a meeting.”
Before she could say anything, he had already gone upstairs.
On the other side, in the Miller family.
After a busy day, having had their New Year’s Eve dinner, it was nowpletely dark outside.
Maggie and Hugo were about to set off fireworks when, suddenly, Harry called her via video.
Maggie froze.
It was impossible for Harry to call her via video.
So…
Maggie answered the call, and the first thing that appeared on the screen was Daisy’s little face.
“Aunt Maggie!”

“Mm.” Maggie smiled and said, “Happy New Year, Daisy.”
“Happy New Year!”
Daisy seemed to be in the garden, holding a small rabbit–shapedntern that was glowing with orange–yellow light and showing it to Maggie. “The littlentern is so pretty! I really like it. Thank you, Aunt Maggie!”
“I’m d you like it, no need to thank me.”
Daisy smiled happily. “Aunt Maggie, Uncle Harry and I are going to set off fireworkster. Do you want toe join us?”
Maggie thought she meant setting off fireworks at the Becker family’s house.
She replied, “No, Aunt Maggie has other things to do. Maybe next time.”
“Oh… okay.”
Daisy and Maggie chatted for a little longer before Daisy got distracted by something else and walked off.
Harry took the phone back and said to Maggie, “Happy New Year.”
“Happy New Year.”
Now that Daisy was no longer there, Maggie felt a bit awkward talking to Harry through video.
Harry asked, “Do you have any nster? Will you be setting off fireworks, or are you going out to
celebrate the New Year?”
Maggie replied, “I should go out.”
Since Hugo and Xavier wanted to go, she would probably go out for a while too.
She thought Harry was just asking casually, so she didn’t think too much about it.
She still felt that there wasn’t much for her to talk about with him.
She said, “I have to go now. Let’s talkter?” Harry responded, “Okay.”
Maggie nodded, nced at Harry on the video, and then hung up.
After putting the phone down, she went out into the small garden to join Hugo and the others to set off
