Gilbert stood, ring at her with furious eyes. “My patience is running thin! Are you really refusing to marry me? I suggest you think carefully–if you don’t, Lincoln Enterprise will be finished!”
Halsey met his gaze with icy calm. “If my parents knew I was marrying you just to save Lincoln Enterprise and sacrifice my happiness for thepany’s peace<b>, </b>they’d me me<b>, </b>too.”
Gilbertughed bitterly. “Fine! Don’t say I didn’t warn you<b>. </b>I’m going to find Mr. Payne now. Just you wait!”
With that, Gilbert mmed the door behind him.
Halsey watched his retreating figure, her brow furrowed. Did Gilbert really think she would break down and give in? No way.
She would find her own way to save Lincoln Enterprise.
Pulling out her phone, she called Cyril’s assistant, Riley ir. The call connected quickly.
“Hello, Ms. Halsey,” Riley answered respectfully.
“Can you find out where Mr. Payne is right now? I need to see him
Even though Gilbert had the upper hand by being friends with William, Halsey had to try–she couldn’t let the partnership with Lincoln Enterprise fall apart.
Soon, Riley responded, “Mr. Payne is at a private club ying golf today.”
“That’s perfect. Send me the address. I’m heading there now.”
“Sure thing.”
Riley quickly sent the location. Halsey left the hotel and went straight to the private club.
Half an hourter, Halsey arrived at the club, ready to find William.
However, the receptionist stopped her. “Hi<b>, </b>there. Have you made a reservation?”
Halsey paused. “You need to make a reservation to enter?”
Yes. This is a private, high–end club. Only the wealthy and influential get in–and only with a reservation.”
Her heart sank. “I want to see Mr. Payne. Could you let him know I’m here? Maybe he’ll agree to <b>see </b>me.
The receptionist nodded politely. “Mr. Payne is here<b>, </b>but <b>he’s </b>ying golf with close friends and isn’t seeing anyone else today. You could try calling him yourself.”
“Halsey didn’t have William’s number.
Still, she had to see him today. If he ended the Cation with Lincoln Enterprise, it would all be toote.
“Could you please make an exception? I have something
