    At that moment, Halsey felt a dark, heavy gaze fall squarely on her face. She looked up and met Gilbert’s eyes.


    He had witnessed every subtle, teasing moment between her and Shaun just now, and he was furious. The contrast between the way she treated him and Shaun only red his anger even more.


    Halsey had been feeling a little awkward, but under Gilbert’s sharp stare, she refused to back down. She shot him a defiant re. “It’s Shaun’s turn to y now. He’s not going to lose to you!”

    Shaun took the golf club from Gilbert.


    Halsey cheered him on right where she stood. “Go, Shaun!”


    Shaun nced at her, then focused on the hole ahead, club in hand. The next second, he swung, and the ball sailed smoothly right into the hole.


    Halsey was stunned. She hadn’t expected Shaun to be this good. His movements were fluid and precise–more polished, even, than Gilbert’s, who had been ying golf since he was a kid. And he looked absolutely cool doing it.


    Her excitement soared. “We got one point! Shaun, you’re amazing!”


    Shaun smiled back at her, a subtle curl of his lips.


    William pped. “Your golf skills have definitely improved. Now, you two are tied.”


    At first, Gilbert hadn’t seen Shaun as a threat. But now, things were different. The connection between Shaun and Halsey wasn’t fake at all, and Shaun was boldly encroaching on all of Gilbert’s territory.


    As a man, Gilbert felt a sharp sense of danger.


    He decided to dig deeper into Shaun’s background once he got back. He needed to find out who this guy really was, and where he came from.


    “Mr. Lane, since we’re tied now, the next point is crucial. Let’s leave it to Mr. Payne and Halsey.”


    “Alright.”


    William stepped up with the golf club. He swung, but the ball missed the holepletely.


    “You were close,” Shaun teased with a smile.


    William turned to Halsey. “I might have missed, but honestly, I think Ms. Mallin’s golf skills are even worse than mine. I’m really curious to see how she does.”


    Now it was Halsey’s turn. Even she felt the nerves creeping in.


    Shaun came over beside her. “Nervous?”


    Halsey nodded honestly. “If I’d known this day woulde, I’d have learned golf properly with my round for me, so I really don’t want to lose this one.”


    Shaun studied her gentle face. “Actually, golf is pretty simple. I can teach you.”


    “Really? Thank you so much!”


    Halsey picked up the golf club. Shaun stepped behind her and wrapped his arms around her.

    The sudden closeness made Halsey freeze. Aside from Dwight, no other man had ever touched her like this. Holding her from behind, her delicate body settled into his embrace. Her whole body stiffened like a stone.


    Then, close to her ear, Shaun’s deep, smooth voice came softly, “What are you thinking? Focus on learning.”


    He gently reminded her to concentrate.


    Halsey straightened up immediately. “Got it.”


    Shaun took her small hand in his and began teaching her.
