Halsey froze, staring at him. “That’s impossible. She said she was
Shaun smiled. “Who do you believe–me or her?”
She shook her head, uncertain.
Shaun’s feelings were always hard to read–she had learned that lesson three years ago.
“If she isn’t your girlfriend, then why has she been by your side all these years? Why should I believe you just because you say there’s nothing between you two?”
Shaunughed, a little bitter. He wrapped his arms around Halsey’s soft waist, pulling her close. “What do you really think of me? Do you think I’m a liar? A guy who won’t admit I’m seeing someone?”
Halsey pushed him away gently. “I don’t want to talk about this right now. I have things to do. Please let me go!”
All she wanted now was to save Lincoln Enterprise.
Shaun didn’t loosen his grip. Instead, he led her over to his luxury car. “Get in.”
Halsey hesitated. “I told you, I have things to take care of-”
“Do you not want to find that worker?”
Her slender eyshes fluttered. “You knew?”
Shaun nodded. “Get in. I’m taking you to find him.”
He opened the passenger door and gently pushed her inside. Then, he slid into the driver’s seat and reached or seatbelt.
“Do you know where that worker is?” Halsey asked.

“Everyone’s looking for him right now. They’ve practically turned the entire Capital upside down. He’s definitely hiding somewhere no one would think to look, the one ce nobody suspects… The construction site where he fell,” Shaun said.
Halsey blinked in surprise. She had thought of that ce, too.
After the worker’s fall, the site had been shut down temporarily. No one would expect he was hiding there.
She hadn’t expected Shaun to think the same.

Soon, the luxury car pulled up outside the sealed–off site. Shaun opened the door, and Halsey stepped out.

He tightened his grip on her hand, holding it firmly in his palm. “Be good. Don’t cause trouble.”
