Halsey thanked Shaun sincerely. “Thank you. I wouldn’t havee up with such a perfect n by myself.”


    Shaun looked at her with a yful smile. “Do you really want to thank me?”


    She nodded. “Of course.”


    Shaun took a step closer, standing right in front of her. “Well, I’ll be waiting for your thank–you gift.”


    Her thank–you gift…


    Halsey’s face flushed bright red in an instant.


    Shaun opened the passenger door. “Get in. I’ll drive you home.“.


    She slid into the car, and Shaun settled into the driver’s seat. He pressed the gas and they sped off. Half an hourter, the luxury car pulled up outside the Lincoln family’s vi.


    Halsey unbuckled her seatbelt. “Thanks for the ride.”


    “No problem. I’ll be waiting for your call. Don’t forget our agreement.”


    He was reminding her of her “gift“.


    Halsey quickly got out and walked toward the house. She didn’t look back, but she could feel Shaun’s gaze lingering on her as he stayed behind.


    Once inside, Patricia and Madeline rushed to greet her.


    “Halsey, you’re finally back!”


    Halsey handed the voice recorder to Patricia. “Mom<b>, </b>give this to Dad. He’ll know what to do with it.”


    Patricia frowned. “Where did you get this?”


    “From Mr. Lane. He helped.”


    Patricia epted the recorder. “Okay, I’m going to find your father now.”


    With that, she left.


    Madeline nced at Halsey. “You saw Shaun?”


    Halsey smiled. “You already know Shaun’s your brother?”


    Madeline nodded. “Yeah. I even went to hispany looking for <b>him</b>, and I ran into that annoying Chelsea!”


    Halsey asked, “Did she give you a hard time?”


    “She did, but then Shaun showed up and bit her head off. He told her never to show up at hispa in! I also gave him a piece of my mind. He didn’t know you went to look for him, and as soon as he found out, he left. He must’ve gone looking for you then.”


    Halsey felt touched. It was a good thing Madeline had gone to find $haun. Otherwise, with Chelsea around, Shaun might never have known what was going on at Lincoln Enterprise.


    She reached out and hugged Madeline. “I’m so lucky to have you and Shaun. He saved Lincoln Enterprise from this crisis.”


    Madeline smiled warmly. “That’s his job! Don’t worry. If he ever bullies you, I denounce him!”


    Halsey’s lips curved up into a small smile. “But you should know he and I can never go back to how things were.”


    “Why not?”


    “Because we’ve both changed. I’m not the Halsey I used to be, and your brother isn’t Dwight anymore.”


    Madeline studied her thoughtfully. “Everyone grows up. We’re not the same people we once were. But as long as the love stays the same, that’s all that matters. Shaun and you love each other, so you should be together.”


    Halsey wasn’t sure what to say. Did Shaun still love her now? She didn’t know.


    Within three days, everything about Lincoln Enterprise was perfectly resolved. The worker was sent to prison, Lincoln Enterprise’s name was cleared, and its stock price soared.


    Cyril came home, beaming. “Mr. Lane really saved us. Don’t forget to thank him properly for us.”
