?Chapter 1317:
After a while, he set his tools aside and headed indoors.
He found Dani perched on the sofa, focused on herptop, typing away. He quickly made a fresh ss of juice and brought it over. Dani looked up, her gaze sharp and unbending.
Cedric pressed his lips together, then adopted a firm tone. “Here, have some juice. But I meant what I said earlier. If you send me away, I’ll head straight for Hamilton. He’s been grumbling about how useless his sons are and is desperate for a sessor. I’m pretty sure he’s already set on choosing me. If you let me stay, I’ll stick to your rules. But if you force me to leave, I’ll stay in Oiscoll and run things my own way.”
Dani, who had just managed to calm down, felt a fresh wave of anger rising.
“Cedric, are you seriously threatening me?” she said through gritted teeth.
Cedric, copying Dani’s usual unbothered style, replied coolly, “Of course I am. I’m absolutely threatening you. You’re worried I’ll get hurt, right? Then keep me close.”
Dani shut her eyes in pure exasperation. No matter what she said, this man just wouldn’t listen.
She let out a sigh, momentarily out of solutions.
“Fine. Do whatever you want,” she muttered.
Cedric beamed. “Perfect! Now drink your juice. You’re way too stressed. I’ll even cook you dinnerter.”
Just as Dani opened her mouth to respond, her phone buzzed. It was Hamilton calling.
“Hello, Dani? It’s me, Hamilton. I’d like to invite you and Cedric to dinner. Would that be alright?”
As if remembering something, Hamilton chuckled and added, “Don’t worry. This time, it’ll be just us.”

As soon as Dani picked up the phone, Cedric’s gaze snapped toward her.
He quietly shifted a step closer to her.
Once Dani hung up, Cedric stood straighter.
Dani turned to head back upstairs, and Cedric trailed after her without missing a beat.
As Dani came downstairs, she found Cedric already dressed and ready. He brought a hand to his lips and let out a purposefully refined cough. “I heard it. I was invited too.”
Dani arched an eyebrow and shot him a pointed look. He had impressive hearing. “So, you’re nning to go alone?” she asked.
Cedric blinked at her. “Wait, you’re not going?”
Dani gave him a long look. “Since you’re so excited, why don’t you go by yourself?”
Cedric quickly lost interest and was about to turn back to change into something more casual when the door suddenly swung open.
Carol popped her head inside and chirped, “Dani, are you ready? Should we head out?”
Dani gave a brief nod and headed for the door.
