?Chapter 1368:
He stood in Niks’ hospital room, staring out the window.
If Dani truly forgave Alexander, the rest of the situation would be easier to resolve.
Confused, Niks asked, “Dad, what are you looking at?”
Hamilton responded, “Alexander’s here. He said he’ll take care of the fake photos issue.”
Niks was shocked by the news. “What? Dani’s back? And she knows?”
Hamilton looked out the window. “Yes, she’s on her way. Alexander is already downstairs.”
Niks had spent time with Dani and knew how much she despised Alexander. He closed his eyes in frustration. “Dad, I suggest you don’t put too much hope in Alexander.”
Hamilton shrugged. “Alexander assured me it’s no big deal. Besides, Cedric has already taught you a lesson, hasn’t he? Dani won’t go too far. And remember, she and Alexander were once married—she’ll give him some leeway.”
Niks looked utterly frustrated, struggling to express himself fully.
Just as he was about to speak, a sharp crack split the air, followed by a cry of pain. “Ahhh!”
Hamilton turned in confusion, his eyesnding on Alexander, who was clutching his broken arm, kneeling at the hospital entrance, trembling from the pain.
Hamilton’s facial muscles twitched.
Soon after, Dani stepped out from the shadows, her figure emerging from the thickening twilight.
Alexander’s heart splintered into a thousand pieces.
He never imagined Dani would strike him, especially with such force. He copsed to his knees, his body shaking from the agonizing pain. “Dani, don’t you remember our past? Didn’t we have good times together?”
Dani’s gaze was as frigid as ice.
The dim lighting cast harsh shadows across her face, her expression as nk as the night, making her appear distant and unfeeling.
“Did we?” Dani retorted, her voice cold. “I don’t recall. We’re adults now, and I honestly can’t understand why you keep embarrassing yourself like this. First, you deceived me by trying to take my flight, and then you followed me all the way here. Weren’t you supposed to be visiting a sick rtive? So why are you here? Your rtive is Niks, huh? Well, you’re quite the fortune-teller, aren’t you? You seemed to know Cedric would go after Niks before it even happened. But how is it that you didn’t foresee yourself getting a beating?”
Alexander clutched his throbbing arm, his eyes vacant as they locked onto Dani. The pain, both physical and emotional, washed over him. “Dani, you never used to hold things against me like this. What changed?” He could hardly process the reality.
Dani had always been indifferent to most things. It was just a handful of fake photos. He’d apologized the moment she stepped out of the car, yet she responded with unrelenting fury. This wasn’t the woman he remembered!
“You’re right—I don’t give a damn.” Dani never let such things trouble her. It might sting, but resorting to violence wasn’t her way. “Say whatever you want. Do whatever you will. It doesn’t matter. I won’t let these petty matters get under my skin.”
