If Hunter ended up causing a falling-out between Liz and the firm, it would be a huge loss.
“Don’t worry, Uncle Warren. I’m not going to stir up any trouble,” Hunter said confidently.
He was always one hundred percent serious about every rtionship he had ever been in. He had no idea who had started the rumor that he was a yer. So what if he had dated a lot? That didn’t mean he wasn’t sincere each time.
Looking at Hunter’s carefree,id-back attitude, Warren fell silent for a moment, then suddenly felt relieved.
With Liz’s personality, unless shepletely lost her mind, there was no way she would fall for someone like that.
Hunter caught the look in Warren’s eyes and immediately bristled. “Uncle Warren, what’s with that look? Are you judging me?”
“It’s nothing,” Warren said tly. “Go get cleaned up and wrap things up for the day. Starting next week, you’ll be reporting directly to Ms. Smith. Do whatever she tells you. Don’t act on your own if you run into something you can’t handle. Got it? This ce is too small to survive you messing around.”
His tone was practically pleading.
Warren genuinely feared that Hunter might cause some kind of disaster one day. He came from a wealthy family and could have lived his whole life without ever working. But right after graduation, he suddenly decided to grow some ambition. Without telling anyone, he moved to Stanley City and applied for an internship here of all ces.
Hunter gave azy nod. “Rx, Uncle Warren. I won’t cause you any headaches.”
It was clear from his expression that he hadn’t really taken a single word seriously.
Warren didn’t bother continuing. He waved him off. “Alright, just go.”
Even looking at him gave him a headache.
“You got it!” Hunter replied, then practically ran out of the room, clearly eager to move to the desk next to Liz.
Watching his cheerful retreat, Warren chuckled to himself. He wondered if Hunter would still be smiling after a few weeks under Liz’s supervision.
Back at his own desk, Hunter quickly packed up his things and moved them over. In less than twenty minutes, he had set himself up at the station next to Liz’s.
No one had used that desk in months, so it was covered in dust. Without hesitation, Hunter grabbed a towel, fetched some water, and started wiping down the desk and chair.
As his figure disappeared around the corner, Naomi rolled her chair closer to Liz and whispered, “So… Mr. Quinn really just dumped him on you?”
Liz, still jotting down notes, turned to her. “Dumped who on me?”
“Hunter Sanders. Rumor is his family’s seriously powerful. Nobody wants to mess with him. Ever since he showed up, people have been avoiding him like the gue, terrified of pissing him off and losing their job.”
Liz looked puzzled. “He doesn’t seem that bad. He was actually pretty easy to talk to.”
Naomi gave her a look of utter disbelief. “Seriously? You think he’s easy to talk to?”
He had only been at the firm for a few days and had already gotten into several arguments with Warren about his appearance. A few clients took one look at his hair and clothes, realized he worked for the firm, and walked out on the spot.
In less than a week, he had already cost them multiple cases.
Liz nodded calmly. “I’m serious. I think he’s fine.”
Naomi sighed. “Well, if you’re going to mentor him, just be prepared to lose business. That hair and those outfits alone are going to scare clients off.”
Only then did Liz fully understand what she meant. She replied, “Oh, that? He already promised me he’ll dye his hair back to ck this weekend, and he’ll dress more professionally when he starts work.”
