Reservation 47

Ethan was about to speak when Hunter’s voice piped up.

    “Liz, I’m starving.”

Liz nced back at him and handed over the tablet. “Go ahead and order. Just get me some pad thai, medium spice.”

    “Oh… okay.”

Hunter took the tablet and lowered his head, scrolling through the menu.

Ethan watched the young man’s obedient demeanor, his eyes narrowing slightly.

When Liz turned back to face him, he had already put on his usual warm smile.

“By the way, our high school ss president is organizing a reunion for tomorrow night. After they found out I’d reconnected with you, everyone wants to see you. He asked me to see if you’d like toe.”

Liz pressed her lips together, hesitating about whether to decline, when Hunter’s voice interrupted again.

“Liz, do you eattro and basil? I want to order the Thai basil beef.”

Liz looked at him. “I eat everything. Go ahead and order.”

    “Okay.”

She turned back to continue talking with Ethan, but Hunter’s voice came again.

“Liz, do you like green onions? I’m thinking of getting the green curry with chicken.”

Liz turned back again. “I’m not picky about anything. Just order whatever you want.”

    “Got it.”

After barely ten seconds of quiet, Hunter’s voice rang out once more. “Liz, I’m done ordering. Take a look and see if we need anything else.”

    Liz was rendered speechless.

She looked at Ethan with some embarrassment. “About the reunion, let me think about it and get back to you.”

Ethan’s expression remained gentle. “Sure, I won’t keep you any longer then.”

    “Okay, see youter.”

After Ethan left, Liz sat back down and raised an eyebrow at Hunter. “Why were you deliberately interrupting our conversation just now?”

Hunter handed her the tablet with an innocent expression. “I wasn’t. Did I really interrupt your conversation?”

    “What do you think?”

Meeting Liz’s knowing look, Hunter had no choice but to admit it.

“Okay, I did do it on purpose. I could tell you didn’t really want to go to that reunion but didn’t want to refuse him to his face, so I kept interrupting. Liz, you’re not mad, are you?”

As he spoke, he looked at her cautiously, as if afraid she might be angry.

Liz could see right through his act. There wasn’t a trace of real fear in his eyes. Instead, there was amusement. He wasn’t even

    trying to hide it convincingly.

“I’m not angry, but don’t make decisions for me again without asking.”

“Got it, Liz. So we’re good now? Can you check if we need to add anything else? I’m absolutely starving.”

Liz looked down at what he had ordered-three dishes and a soup, more than enough for two people.

“No need to add more. This is more than enough,” Liz said.

    “Got it,” Hunter replied.

A momentter, the server came over to collect the tablet.

While they waited for the food, Hunter struck up a casual conversation.

“So, Liz, what year were you born?”

She gave a light smile. “I’m four or five years older than you. As for the exact year, I’ll let you guess.”

She was already beautiful, but when she smiled, it had a quiet charm. It felt like a breeze moving across a calmke, gentle yet somehow stirring something inside you.

Hunter had seen his share of beautiful women, but he still found himself momentarily dazed.

Snapping out of it, he raised an eyebrow. “Don’t they say women are always eighteen? If we’re going by that logic, then I’d guess you’re Gen Z.”

Liz couldn’t help but burst intoughter. “You’ve got a smooth mouth, don’t you?”
