Chapter 59
The moment the words left Jeff’s mouth, Zac spoke coldly,
“She’s the one who should regret it, not me. What do I have to regret? I gave her plenty of chances. She’s the one who didn’t appreciate them. What, am I supposed to swallow my pride and beg her?”
Just thinking about all the chances he had given Liz after their breakup, and how she kept ying hard to get and refusing to budge, made his chest burn with frustration.
It wasn’t like he couldn’t live without her.
A flicker of surprise passed through Jeff’s eyes. “Wait, you actually tried to get back together with her? And she turned you down?”
The second Jeff said that, Zac’s hand suddenly tightened around the lighter he had been casually ying with. His expression turned dark and unreadable.
“You’re serious? You really did that? So now you’re with Xena just to get back at Liz?”
Zac said nothing. His expression was grim, and the air around him felt ice–cold.
Jeff was genuinely shocked. He hadn’t expected Zac to do something this childish just to spite Liz.
Rick, who had been quietly listening, frowned deeply. “Zac, doing this will only push Liz further away.”
Zac didn’t even blink. “So what? It’s not like I can’t live without her.”
Rick opened his mouth to say more, but at that moment, the door to the private room swung open and Xena walked in with a smile.
Zac nced at her but said nothing.
Xena walked over and sat beside him, her expression pleasant, though her hands under the table were clenched tightly.
Downstairs, Liz parked her car and checked the room number Jane had sent. She got out and walked into the lounge.
As soon as she entered the lobby, she saw staircases leading up to the second floor from all four directions. She took the nearest one and headed upstairs.
It didn’t take long to find Room 212. What she didn’t notice was that there was a directionalbel in front of it. It
was marked East 212.
She knocked on the door. A voice from inside called, “Come in,” and it sounded vaguely familiar. But she didn’t think much of it and pushed the door open.
“Liz?”
?
She looked up and immediately froze. Inside the room sat Zac and the others. Her brows furrowed with realizing.
er
Zac’s eyes flickered when he saw her, but he quickly looked away, his gaze cold.
She had imed she would nevere back to him, and yet it hadn’t even been that long before she cracked. So much for keeping up the act.

Jeff raised an eyebrow. “Liz, did you conte here to see Zac?
Liz pressed her lips together and looked at him calmly. “I must’ve walked into the wrong room. Sorry to disturb you.”
“Wait.”
Zac stared at her coldly. “Did you really walk into the wrong room, or are you just pretending?”
The entire room fell silent. Every eye was on Liz.
She was about to respond when her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing Jane’s name on the screen, she quickly picked up.
“Liz, where are you? We’ve been waiting forever.”
“I’m here. Didn’t you say you were in Room 212?”
She was starting to suspect Jane had had too much to drink and given her the wrong room number.
“Yes, South 212… oh shoot, I forgot to tell you. This ce has North, South, East, and West wings. You’re supposed toe up the South staircase. Did you end up in the wrong 212?”
Liz paused.
“Hello? Liz? Are you still there?”
“I’ming now.”
She ended the call and looked up. “Sorry. I really did walk into the wrong room.”
Without ncing at anyone else, she turned and walked out, leaving the room behind.
