Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Looking for Trouble

The Ji parents looked even more conflicted, unsure of what to say.
But Ji Yu had no intention of continuing to watch her perform. "Since you’ve already handed the documents to Gu Qixiao, if he finds them satisfactory, he’ll naturally approach you for coboration. If not, no matter who it is, he won’t agree."
Her rtionship with Gu Qixiao wasn’t particrly close; why should he be the one to help out?
Ji Yu was fully aware of this, which was why she directly rejected Ji Lin.
Ji Lin’s expression grewplicated. "Yu, we’ve been close since we were kids. Can’t you help me out? I know President Gu is pursuing you."
"Because he’s pursuing me, I should use him? The two of us aren’t even together, and even if we were, I would never ask him for such a thing." Ji Yu had her principles.
Since the problemy with Ji Lin, there was really nothing more to discuss.
But judging by her expression, she likely hadn’t realized the severity of the issue.
"I have no intention of bickering with you about this. If you like Gu Qixiao, you can pursue him any time. Why bring up your family’s business and even deceive my parents?"
She unflinchingly exposed the true face of the person before her.
In truth, Ji Yu didn’t have much more to say about this matter.
But Ji Lin kept creating trouble, and now all Ji Yu could do was give her a lesson she’d remember.
"I..."
Ji Lin gritted her teeth at Ji Yu, clearly tired of pretending.
The Ji parents’ faces darkened. "Lin, we don’t agree with this. If you like Gu, it’s fine to pursue him directly. But borrowing Yu’s name to do it—what does that even mean?"
They could clearly distinguish between close and distant ties. Ji Lin had gone too far, so they wouldn’t allow her to try such stunts again.
The Ji family, a family of four, not one member sided with Ji Lin. Seeing how things had escted, Ji Lin no longer feltfortable staying any longer.
With tears welling up, she ran out as if she’d been wronged.
Ji Yu didn’t feel like paying attention to any of them. "Mom, Qinqin is staying in my room tonight."
They already knew the two were close, so seeing Feng Qinqin brought them happiness.
"Alright. Have you two eaten yet? If not, I’ll have the housekeeper prepare some supper for you."
"No need to trouble her, Aunty. I just want to chat with Yuyu for a while; we’ve already eaten." Feng Qinqin’s sweet smile lingered, though in truth, she mainly wanted to discuss Gu Qixiao with Ji Yu tonight.
Dragging things out like this wasn’t a solution.
The two went upstairs together, clearly with private matters to discuss, and the Ji parents didn’t interfere.
"You too, take a rest and stop loitering around." They gave Ji Yuanzhou a quick reminder before heading upstairs themselves, leaving Ji Yuanzhou looking even lonelier.
However, that loneliness was something only he could understand.
Meanwhile, Feng Qinqin had already begun gossiping with Ji Yu.
"What exactly are your feelings for Gu Qixiao? If you have even a little affection for him, your attitude shouldn’t be like this."
Ji Yu sighed. "I still have my reasoning. Even if I have feelings, I can’t bypass the trouble that is Song Xuan."
For anyone, such a trouble would be a fatal obstacle.
Ji Yu’s decision hade after much deliberation.
Hearing this, Feng Qinqin appeared conflicted. "Song Xuan is indeed a troublemaker, but that’s no reason to give up on Gu Qixiao."
"Do you think Gu Qixiao would ignore it if he saw her attempting suicide again the next time they meet?"
Of course not.
Who could turn a blind eye to a human life?
Feng Qinqin sighed. "Fine, I was going to try convincing you, but your responsepletely shut me down."
Now, she had no idea how to continue the conversation. Some people seemed fine in every aspect—except for one fatal w.
Ji Yu chuckled lightly, brushing the matter aside. "If that’s how you feel, let’s not dwell on these emotional issues anymore. Get some rest."
Who ever guarantees meeting the right person every time?
Everyone is an adult with their own share of troubles.
That night, Ji Yu didn’t sleep particrly well.
The next day, she felt drained and out of sorts.
She nearly bumped into Gu Qixiao, saved at thest moment by Feng Qinqin pulling her aside; otherwise, she would have fallen right into Gu Qixiao’s arms.
"What are you doing here?" Ji Yu sounded fatigued, unsure of what he wanted to say. Given their current situation, they seemed utterly ipatible.
"I’m pursuing you; naturally, I want to see you."
He made no attempt to hide his feelings for Ji Yu, nor did he care about her current attitude. The intensity in his gaze almost left Ji Yu scorched.
"Didn’t you understand what I saidst time?"
She had said it inly and felt no regret about doing so.
Gu Qixiao’s expression didn’t change in the slightest, but there was a faint trace of unreadable grievance in his brows. "Why should I suppress myself just to repay a past favor?"
He had already promised Song Xuan everything and even arranged matchmaking efforts for her, but marriage waspletely out of the question.
"Besides, I mentioned that the next time I visit the orphanage, I want you toe along. Do you have time today?"
He nced meaningfully at Feng Qinqin. She clearly understood she was now a third wheel, but some situations were simply out of her control.
"You two have a good talk; I think Yuyu could use some fresh air. I’ll head out first."
And with that, she slipped away quicker than anyone.
Ji Yu couldn’t help but shake her head, resigned.
But given the circumstances, since she had already agreed, Ji Yu couldn’t back out now. "Alright."
Even so, going to the orphanage wouldn’t bring her and Gu Qixiao any closer.
"You seem to have quite an issue with me."
"Not really. I just don’t want to deal with it anymore." She didn’t want to think about Song Xuan, though she also hoped Song Xuan wouldn’t interfere with her life.
"If I remember correctly, your cousin came to mypany yesterday. I know your rtionship with her isn’t good."
He spoke of it as casually as ifmenting on drinking a ss of water.
But Ji Yu cared about this matter. "My rtionship with her may not be great, but I don’t need you to point that out. Also, she came to see you with no good intentions, so you’d best be cautious."
Gu Qixiao had encountered many such people before, which was why he’d instinctively suspected Ji Yu’s motives when they first met.
Looking back now, he realized he’dpletely misjudged things. "I know she has ulterior motives, but there’s no way I’d be interested in someone like her."
