Chapter 233: Chapter 233: Mental Illness

Ji Yu had no idea what was going on with this person.
Gu Qixiao felt a splitting headache, pletely clueless as to when something like this could have happened, and he was afraid Ji Yu might misunderstand.
"What Yu said isn’t true at all. There’s nothing between us. Back when we were in school, we only exchanged a few words, that’s all."
"Watch out!" Ji Yu didn’t have time to care about whether his words were true or false. She only knew that the person opposite them was holding a knife, and the two of them were in danger.
Gu Qixiao also knew that the knife in the person’s hand was extremely dangerous, so he stepped forward, intending to take it away.
Out of nowhere, she found the strength to act, yet shockingly, the knife ended up stabbing into Gu Qixiao’s arm.
Blood flowed down his arm, snapping Ling Xia into a brief moment of rity.
Ling Xia stared at the scene before her in utter disbelief.
"Xiao..." How could this happen? How could she possibly hurt Gu Qixiao?
She seemed unable to ept the reality in front of her.
Ji Yu was also worried about Gu Qixiao’s condition, but thankfully Assistant Li arrived just in time.
Seeing the bodyguards subdue the person, Ji Yu hurriedly went over to tend to his wound.
"Gu Qixiao, are you out of your mind? In such a dangerous situation, how could you step forward to grab the knife?" What if something really happened to him? What would she do then?
Looking at her red-rimmed, worried eyes, Gu Qixiao felt a strange pang of joy in his heart.
"If I didn’t step forward to grab the knife, she might’ve hurt you. How could I just stand there and watch you get injured?"
To him, it actually didn’t hurt that much.
But the sight of Ji Yu’s tears made the pain inexplicably sharper.
"Yu, don’t cry. I’m really fine." To him, injuries like this were nothing. As long as he could protect Ji Yu, it was all worth it.
"When did I cry? I just hate seeing wounds like this on you. Let me bandage it up first before we talk."
Even now, she maintained her stubborn facade.
Gu Qixiao didn’t mind letting her take care of him.
However, the equipment here was quite basic. Ji Yu was worried that the wound might get infectedter, so she decided to take him to the hospital for a proper checkup.
"It’s really no big deal. You don’t have to worry so much about me." He tried to appear rxed.
But for Ji Yu, this was not something she could just let go of.
"How could I not worry about you? When you got hurt for me earlier, I didn’t even know what to say. You really shouldn’t have tried to grab her knife."
In Ji Yu’s eyes, such actions were uneptable.
Even though they both cared deeply about each other, this was not the right way to show it.
"Are you really so reckless that you’d risk your life for love?"
"Because I believe, if it were you, you’d do the same. Besides, at that moment, protecting you was all that mattered to me."
If he couldn’t even protect the woman he loved, what right did he have to im he loved her?
"The fact that I like you is something I’ll never deny. I also want my actions to prove it. To me, what happened earlier was the only right thing to do, so you don’t need to feel guilty." What he did was never in search of a reward; all he wanted was for her to be happy.
"Gu Qixiao, you put me on such a high pedestal that you’re bound to encounter all kinds of trouble. When someone uses me to threaten you, what will you do then?"
It wasn’t as if such things hadn’t happened before. Thest time something like this urred, he was already threatened because of her.
"Even if I’m threatened, so what? To me, these are simply things I should bear." He didn’t see anything wrong with it. Now that they were together, he was willing to give her everything; it was just a natural response to how he felt.
Ji Yu couldn’t understand how someone like him could still have such a "love-struck fool" mentality. Didn’t this suggest that he had never fallen in love with anyone before?
"Gu Qixiao, have you always been like this in past rtionships? Weren’t you ever horribly taken advantage of for being so wholehearted in love?" Wouldn’t someone like this end up getting hurt terribly?
At the mention of his first love, Gu Qixiao’s expression turned a bit red.
"You’re the only person I’ve ever liked." He had never felt this way about anyone else before, and he didn’t even have any female friends before meeting her.
"Don’t tell me... I’m your first love?" Ji Yu looked at him and couldn’t help butugh.
"Yes, you’re my first love. What I feel for you ispletely different from anything else. I’ve never felt this kind of attraction toward anyone else before."
This feeling made him helplessly fall for her and want to do anything for her.
"No wonder you’re such a love-struck fool." Even though Ji Yu hadn’t been in a rtionship before, she knew that feelings like this required a lot of courage.
Judging from their current situation, the two of them didn’t seem to be doing too badly together.
At the very least, neither had ever betrayed the other’s feelings, and it was clear that they were incredibly important to each other.
"Yu, sometimes you overthink things. These are matters you really don’t need to overanalyze. To me, you’re the one and only. And I can already tell what’s in your heart."
These things were often made evident by her actions.
Perhaps Ji Yu thought she hid it well, but everything she did made it clear to him that she liked him too.
Ji Yu felt a little embarrassed. She had intended to tease him, but instead, she became the one being teased.
Still, this feeling wasn’t bad. At the very least, it brought them closer together.
"Let’s talk more in the future. There’s no need to keep everything bottled up. Just because I know you like me doesn’t mean I won’t cherish you as much."
There really was no need for such worry.
Gu Qixiao had always been crystal clear about Ji Yu’s ce in his heart.
As they talked, they arrived at the hospital.
After a checkup, the doctor found that Gu Qixiao’s arm was in much worse condition than they initially thought.
"Given the current situation, he’ll need to be hospitalized for a few days of observation before being discharged."
Ji Yu naturally insisted on staying with him.
"Yu, if you have other things to handle, go take care of them. If there’s anything you need help with, just ask Assistant Li."
He knew Ji Yu had been worried about Madam Ji recently and that she also wanted to deal with Li Yu. Handling someone like Li Yu would undoubtedly take a great deal of time and effort.
"I’ve already arranged everything on my end. There’s no need for me to take care of anything else. Also, this matter is nowhere near asplicated as you think."
There was no way she would let the man who hurt her mother get away with it.
"He’ll soon realize just how foolish his actions were."
Her attitude about this matter was resolute.
