Chapter 244: Chapter 244: Heartache

"Dad, even if you’re not thinking about us siblings, you should at least think about Mom. If she knew how much you were struggling for her, she’d definitely feel heartbroken."
Upon hearing this, Mr. Ji’s eyes reddened slightly, deeply moved by the words.
"It just hurts so much inside. I can’t understand why your mom ended up like this. All we ever wanted was to live a simple and peaceful life."
But this incident shattered their illusionpletely.
He wasn’t sure if he’d be able to hold on much longer.
"Every day, I think that if your mom never wakes up, then I’ll just stay here with her. That way, the two of us can at least spend the rest of our lives together."
Ji Yu felt heartbroken when she heard this.
"Dad, no matter what, I hope you’ll make sure to rest well." She sat nearby, observing Madam Ji’s condition. How she wished her mother could be here, just like before, telling her not to cry anymore.
But such longings felt like nothing more than a dream.
"Yu, you’re still pregnant. Considering your situation, you need rest more than anyone else. You can’t keeping here every day. If you get too emotional, something could go wrong."
The Ji family was deeply bonded, and yet, why did such an ordeal have to befall them? Perhaps some people envied their happiness.
Ji Yu stayed a while longer to keep her fatherpany before finally preparing to leave.
On her way home, she received a call from the senior she’d previously consulted.
"Yu, what you mentioned before, I’ve encountered simr cases. Unfortunately, I can’t fly back immediately. Let’s talk about it after I return to the country."
Hearing that her mother’s situation might hold a glimmer of hope, Ji Yu felt she couldn’t just let it go.
"Really? That’s so kind of you, Senior Xia. But, do you know when you’ll be able toe back? I can pick you up when you arrive."
The other party chuckled, seemingly aware of her anxiety, and offered a nearby date.
"I n to fly back the day after tomorrow, but if it’s urgent, I can fly back tomorrow night. You don’t need to pick me up. Just wait for me toe to you."
He was genuinely interested in her situation and didn’t want to miss the opportunity to help.
Despite his reassurance, Ji Yu still went to pick him up.
Seeing the familiar figure before her eased some of the tension in her heart.
"I’m so sorry, Senior Xia, for making you take such a detour."
"Not at all. Your mother’s ident is something I naturally want to help with. Besides, if what I’ve learned can be of use to you, I’d be truly happy."
His gaze toward Ji Yu was warm and gentle.
When Ji Yu thought about what he had said previously, she couldn’t help but feel emotional.
"ording to the doctors, my mom’s condition isn’t terrible. But for some reason—perhaps due to a blood clot pressing down—she just hasn’t woken up."
"I’ll need to assess her condition before we can be sure," Xia Chuanhe said calmly without rushing or making any definitive promises. After all, cases like this were rarely guaranteed.
Ji Yu understood that they needed to first determine the specifics before they could make an urate decision.
"Since you’ll need some time to observe, why not stay in the country a bit longer?"
"Don’t worry, Yu. As long as it’s about you, I’ll be here," he said sincerely.
This matter was incredibly important to Ji Yu.
He was well aware of this fact.
Moreover, this presented an opportunity to strengthen their connection.
Ji Yu was deeply grateful to him. After agreeing to meet at the hospital the following day to assess the situation, she finally returned home.
When Ji Yuanzhou learned of the matter, he was somewhat surprised.
"You have a senior who specializes in this field?"
"Of course, it’s not just limited to this discipline. But whether he can help remains uncertain." Ji Yu was fairly confident about this development.
However, it was always wise to prepare for the worst-case scenario. High hopes often led to deeper disappointment, particrly in situations like this.
Thus, she contemted every potentialplication. If Senior Xia could indeed improve her mother’s condition, they would naturally be deeply grateful.
Hearing this, Ji Yuanzhou grew anxious as well.
He could only wait until the next day for more rity.
Unwilling to let Ji Yu go alone, the two siblings decided to bring Xia Chuanhe to the hospital together.
Xia Chuanhe seemed curious about Ji Yuanzhou’s presence. "Yu, who is this?"
"This is my brother."
Ji Yu rarely talked about her family while at school. This unexpected scenario had now introduced him to her family.
A cheerful smile spread across his face. "Ah, so this is Yu’s older brother. Rest assured, I’ll do everything I can. Even if I can’t, my mentor surely can."
Seeing this expression, and as a fellow man, Ji Yuanzhou could easily guess what he was thinking.
"Thank you."
For now, they had no choice but to keep things amicable, especially since they needed his help. Avoidingplications was key.
The group arrived at the hospital to find Mr. Ji still sitting vigil by Madam Ji’s side, looking utterly exhausted. Ji Yu felt a pang of guilt as she watched him.
"Dad, we brought someone to assess Mom’s condition. Why don’t you rest for a while? We’ll call you as soon as there’s an update."
Over the past few weeks, they had sought help from numerous people, but none of the results had been promising. Mr. Ji was nearing despair. So upon hearing this, his first instinct was to stay and apany them.
"Let me stay too. I want to see if she has any chance of waking up."
Ji Yu didn’t know how to respond and dared not agitate her father. She feared that excessive emotion might lead to something worse.
Although Xia Chuanhe appeared young, he had some expertise in this area.
After examining Madam Ji, his expression grew solemn. "Your mom’s condition is indeed severe. From what I see, she’ll likely need a craniotomy. But as you know, the sess rate for such a procedure is only fifty percent. Whether or not to proceed will be up to you."
Heid things out clearly. A craniotomy might not necessarily improve her condition, but not proceeding with it left an 80% probability that she wouldn’t wake up.
"Isn’t there any other option?" Ji Yu knew that all surgeries carried risks, especially a procedure as invasive as a craniotomy.
"I can try to bring my mentor over to assess the situation, but his schedule is very tight. We’ll have to see if he’s avable."
