Chapter 109 Caught in the Act

Chapter 109 Caught in the Act

Lily still had the VIP card Nancy gave her, which granted a 10 percent discount at all Aurelia stores.

Her rtionship with the Luke family ran deep.

She’d also mentioned many times that her precious daughter had saved Nancy’s only nephew, Simon, <b>and </b>was cherished by John himself. Who would dare cross her?

Wendy was sure no one would dare to check the surveince footage unless she allowed it.

Her eyes briefly flickered with a dark glint before she continued, “We all saw it just now<i>. </i>Lily snapped because she couldn’t afford the dress. She destroyed it out of jealousy!”

    Diana’s eyes shifted slightly.

Only a seasoned veteran could be a manager at a luxury boutique like this, and in that instant, she understood what Wendy was doing.

    <i>Chances </i><i>are</i>, it isn’t <i>Lily </i>who <i>ruined </i><i>the </i><i>dress</i><i>–</i>it is <i>Wendy</i><i>. </i>

    <i>Wendy </i><i>is </i><i>forcing </i><i>me </i><i>to </i>pick a side.

    <i>Everyone </i>knew <i>Elsa </i><i>wasn’t </i><i>just </i><i>adored </i><i>by </i><i>Mr. </i><i>Simon</i><i>; </i><i>she </i><i>was </i><i>also </i>Mr. <i>John’s </i><i>favorite</i><i>. </i><i>Sure</i><i>, </i>Lily had dated John, but <i>once </i><i>Elsa </i><i>returned</i><i>, </i><i>he </i><i>had </i><i>kicked </i><i>her </i><i>out </i><i>without </i><i>hesitation</i><i>. </i><i>How </i><i>could </i><i>Lily </i><i>ever </i><ipete </i>with Elsa?

    Ms. <i>Nancy </i><i>valued </i><i>Elsa </i>for <i>saving </i><i>Simon’s </i><i>life</i><i>, </i><i>and </i><i>she </i><i>had </i><i>long</i><i>–</i><i>standing </i>ties with <i>Wendy</i><i>. </i><i>If </i>I angered them, my job would <i>be </i><i>on </i><i>the </i><i>line</i><i>. </i>

Her mind made up, Diana discreetly tugged on the sleeve of a staff member beside her. The staffer immediately caught on.

“Ms. Diana, the security system’s been down. I meant to tell you earlier. But I saw it with my own eyes. Lily waited until no one was looking and shed that dress on purpose!”

“Same here!” Another staffer chimed in, eager to impress Elsa. “She nced at the price tag, muttered something, and just started cutting. If she can’t afford our clothes, maybe she should shop at flea markets instead. Destroying our merchandise is just pathetic. She’s a broke hater who can’t ept reality. It’s disgusting.”

More employees piled on, iming they witnessed Lily damaging the gown.

If Lily refused to pay, they were willing to testify at the police station.

    Lily almostughed.

    <i>Power </i><i>and </i><i>status </i><i>really </i><i>did </i><i>blind </i><i>people</i><i>, </i><i>making </i><i>them </i>toss <i>aside </i><i>basic </i><i>decency</i>.

    It <i>was </i><i>obvious </i><i>Wendy </i><i>had </i><i>ruined </i><i>the </i><i>dress </i><i>herself</i><i>, </i><i>framing </i><i>me </i><i>in </i>the <i>process</i>. And <i>now </i><i>all </i><i>these </i><i>people </i><i>were </i><i>shamelessly </i><i>flipping </i><i>the </i><i>truth </i>just <i>to </i><i>get </i><i>in </i><i>Wendy </i><i>and </i><i>Elsa’s </i><i>good </i><i>graces</i>, <i>like </i><i>they </i><i>couldn’t </i><i>wait </i><i>to </i><i>paint </i><i>me </i><i>as </i><i>some </i><i>psychotic </i><i>viin</i><i>. </i>

    <i>Too </i><i>bad </i><i>for </i><i>them</i><i>, </i><i>I’m </i><i>no </i><i>helpless </i><i>victim</i>. I’m <i>a </i><i>de</i><i>, </i><i>ready </i><i>to </i><i>cut </i><i>deep </i><i>the </i><i>moment </i><i>I </i>get the <i>chance</i>.

Chapter 109 Caught in the Act

Smirking coldly, Lily tightened her grip on her phone, ready to speak, when Nancy walked through the

    door.

She immediately noticed the tense crowd surrounding Lily, and her eyes narrowed.

    “What’s going on here?”

“Nancy, Lily ispletely shameless!” Wendy rushed forward, desperate to spin the story her way.

“She tried on that dress, saw the price, and got jealous because she couldn’t afford it. Then she snuck back and cut it up! It’s a malicious destruction of property. Nancy, she came to your store just to stir trouble. She clearly doesn’t respect you. You need to make her pay!”

Nancy looked at Wendy with aplicated expression, then the corner of her lips lifted ever so slightly in a mocking smile.

    <i>Yes</i>, we had gone <i>to </i><i>school </i><i>together</i><i>. </i><i>But </i><i>I </i><i>never </i><i>liked </i><i>Wendy </i><i>back </i><i>then</i>.

    <i>My </i><i>only </i>impression <i>of </i><i>Wendy </i><i>had </i><i>been </i><i>that </i><i>she </i><i>was </i><i>way </i>too <i>fond </i><i>of </i><i>married </i><i>men</i>.

    I invited <i>Wendy </i><i>and </i><i>Elsa </i><i>over </i><i>for </i><i>dinner </i><i>at </i><i>the </i><i>Luke </i><i>estate </i><i>after </i><i>discovering </i><i>Elsa </i><i>was </i><b><i>the </i></b><i>girl </i>Simon had been looking <i>for</i>. <i>I </i><i>gave </i><i>them </i><i>gifts </i><i>too</i><i>. </i>

    But <i>it </i>was <i>never </i><i>about </i><i>admiring </i><i>their </i><i>character</i><i>. </i><i>I </i><i>simply </i><i>appreciated </i><i>what </i>Elsa <i>had </i><i>done </i>for my nephew during those <i>darkest </i><i>days</i>.

    <i>Once </i>I <i>found </i><i>out </i><i>Elsa </i>had <i>inserted </i><i>herself </i>into <i>John </i><i>and </i><i>Lily’s </i>rtionship, I <i>had </i>cut off <b><i>contact</i></b><b><i>. </i></b>

    <i>Grateful </i><i>or </i><i>not</i><i>, </i><i>I </i><i>couldn’t </i><i>bring </i><i>myself </i><i>to </i>like <i>a </i><i>homewrecker</i>.

    <i>And </i>now, <i>Wendy </i><i>and </i><i>her </i><i>daughter </i><i>are </i><i>bullying </i><i>my </i><i>daughter</i><i>–</i><i>in</i><i>–</i><iw</i><i>? </i>

    <i>I </i><i>did </i><i>love my </i><i>nephew</i><i>, </i><i>but </i><i>blood </i><i>or </i><i>not</i><i>, </i><i>my </i>own <i>daughter</i><i>–</i><i>in</i><i>–</i><iw </i><i>mattered </i><i>more</i>.

    <i>Even </i><i>for </i><i>Simon’s </i><i>sake</i><i>, </i><i>I </i><i>couldn’t </i><i>let </i><i>this </i><i>slide</i>.

Instead of responding to Wendy, she turned to Diana with a faint, chilly smile.

“Diana, are you saying Lily deliberately destroyed one of the store’s dresses?”

    “I…”

Hearing Nancy refer to Lily in such a familiar tone made Diana’s heart skip a beat.

She suddenly felt a flicker of unease.

    Still, she told herself.

    <i>Even </i><i>if </i><i>Nancy </i>liked <i>Lily </i><i>a </i><i>little </i><i>right </i><i>now</i>, <i>once </i><i>she </i><i>believed </i><i>Lily </i>had <i>trashed </i><i>Aurelia </i><i>merchandise</i><i>, </i><i>she </i><i>would </i>turn <i>on </i>

    <i>her</i><i>. </i>

    <i>No </i><i>way </i><i>I </i><i>could </i><i>risk </i><i>offending </i><i>Wendy </i><i>and </i><i>Elsa</i><i>. </i>
