As she spoke, Sophie couldn’t hold back anymore. Tears rolled down her cheeks to her chin, her voice shaking. “This is the third time. In another month, they can check the baby’s gender.
“They have a rule–if three surrogacies don’t please the employer, the mother gets sent to the egg house.”
“What’s that?” Olivia raised a brow, not getting what she meant.
Sophie let out a bitterugh, her voice hoarse. “It’s where they harvest eggs. Girls who need money, girls who were trafficked, and girls like me who aren’t worth anything anymore all get sent there.
“They don’t use anesthesia when they take the eggs. One egg is fifty grand.
“Everything here has a price tag…”
“I just want to go home…” Sophie stroked her swollen belly, her eyes losing focus. She forced a polite smile, staring nkly into the distance, as if every bit of strength had been drained from her.
Olivia pulled her close, wrapped an arm around her shoulders, and gently patted her back. “I’ll take you home.”
Meanwhile, inside Orion Tower, Ethan rushed to Andrew with his phone, looking excited. “Mr. Shea, that fortune teller called MysticHealer just went live. But the background looks weird.”
Andrew took the phone, a sly smile curling on his lips. “Tell the PR team to push this ount with everything they’ve got. Mystic Healer’s stream has to hit tonight’s trending list. Tomorrow, I want her on the trending list.”
“Mr. Shea, are you sure?” Ethan asked, thinking Andrew had lost it.
That afternoon, Andrew had already bought MysticHealer five million followers, spending over a million dors. Ethan couldn’t figure out why he cared so much about a fortune teller with no scientific basis.
Andrew nced at him, his eyes cool and unreadable.
Tll get on it,” Ethan said quickly.
Ethan worked fast. With the massive follower base and the tform’s insane traffic boost, Olivia’s livestream was soon flooded with viewers.
(What’s this ount? When did I follow it?)
[Did some rich guy buy me as a follower again?!

[Why does the streamer’s background look like… a bathroom?]
[My years online tell me this is gonna be one hell of a stream.]
The chat buzzed nonstop. In no time, the live viewers hit half a million.

Olivia arched a brow, her smile confident and bold. “Wee, everyone. Today, I’m not doing readings. I’m showing you something special.”
[Special? What kind of special?]
[So you are a fortune teller? This is interesting. I’m in.]
‘Today, we’re going inside an illegal surrogacy operation. Ladies, remember to protect yourselves.” Olivia spoke slowly and calmly, making sure every word was recorded clearly.
Oh my god! Did I hear that right? Illegal surrogacy? Is this for real?]
This has to be scripted. No way something this crazy is real.]
Script or not, I’m staying. Can’t wait to see what happens.]
I’m already screen recording. Gotta save the evidence.]
Once everything was in ce, Olivia adjusted her earring to make sure it wouldn’t fall off. Then she ook Sophie’s hand and smiled. “From here on, just keep ying dumb.”
She had barely finished when Gina banged on the door from outside, her voice sharp with urgency. ‘Olivia! What’s taking so long? Do you need me to help you in there?”
Gina’s vignce was impressive. Barely three minutes had passed before she came checking in.
[Wait, this isn’t scripted? What’s going on? Is the streamer actually busting a human trafficking ring?]
[I thought I followed a fortune teller?]
[Why am I feeling kinda hyped about this?]
Olivia opened the door and smiled at Gina. “Sophie wasn’t feeling well, so it took a bit longer.”
As she spoke, Olivia brushed her hair back just enough to reveal the earring. On the stream, Gina’s face instantly filled the screen.
Since Olivia had been <i>so </i>obedient all day, Gina didn’t suspect a thing. She even smiled warmly. “Olivia, I heard you know a bit of medicine?”
“A little,” Olivia said with a small nod.

“That’s great. Devin’s nephew works at the county hospital. He’s tall, handsome, and a lead physician there. Why don’t you meet him–maybe even date him?” Gina’s eyes gleamed with
calction.
“Date him?” Olivia’s face darkened, her tone edged with irritation. “I’m not looking to be in a rtionship. I only came back this time to-”
Before she could finish, Gina grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the stairs. “Silly girl, all women need to marry. It’s not like the city here–girls around eighteen marry young. Once you’re over twenty, you’re not worth much.”
Olivia yanked her arm free, her expression instantly cold. “I said I’m not interested in dating. And I have no ns to get married.”
A flicker of anger passed over Gina’s face, but she quickly smoothed it away. Taking Olivia’s hand in a gentler grip, she soothed, “Olivia, Devin’s the one suggesting you meet his nephew–I can’t exactly refuse him, can I?
“Just meet that young man once. If you don’t like him, think of it as exchanging some medical knowledge. I hear from Grace you have real talent in medicine. Even if you don’t fancy him, you could still be friends, right?”
[Why does it feel like every word out of her mouth is a trap?]
[Seriously, why do women have to get married? Not marrying isn’t a crime.]
[Didn’t the streamer say she grew up in an orphanage? Then why does she have a “mom“?]
When Olivia stayed silent, Gina’s patience began to wear thin. Her tone hardened. “It’s just a meeting–you’re not losing anything. Devin’s done a lot for our family. You ought to be polite.”
Sophie tugged lightly at Olivia’s sleeve, signaling for her to agree.
“Alright, I’ll listen <i>to </i>you.” Olivia put on a timid look, took a deep breath, and let her voice tremble slightly. “Can you at least tell me which hospital this doctor works at?”
Seeing her act so interested, Gina slipped right back into her doting–mother facade. “Oh, he’s impressive. He’s an OB–GYN at Hirica Women’s & Children’s Hospital. You have to book his appointments two weeks in advance, and a single consultation costs over a thousand dors.”
“If you and he hit it off, our family could walk tall in this town.” Gina forced herself to rein in her excitement. “But if it doesn’t work out, that’s fine too. Totally up to you.”
The smile she wore was nothing but a cover. The “meeting” was just an excuse to lure Olivia to the hospital. In her mind, there was no way Dr. Steven Lewis would ever be genuinely interested in
Olivia.
“I still prefer someone handsome,” Olivia said lightly.

Gina tapped her on the forehead, eyes full of fake affection. “Silly girl–handsome doesn’t put food on the table. What matters in a man is money and power.”
