What he didn’t expect was that the entire town was involved in this operation. Even when the girls‘ families came searching, the residents would stand united, blocking them from taking the girls away. In the end, the girls couldn’t leave–and neither could their families.
Over the past few days, Edward had been imprisoned here, subjected to all kinds of torture. That was why he assumed Olivia was sent by Donald and the others.
“Go ahead,” Edward said, closing his eyes, waiting for Olivia to kill him.
“I’m not here to kill you.” Olivia arched a brow, picked up the chain at Edward’s feet, and slid a long needle into the lock. With a few deft movements, it clicked open.
She gave him a small smile. “Just like you, I’m one of their victims.”
Edward was momentarily surprised at herposure. He couldn’t believe that a woman with such strong mental fortitude
and the ability to rescue him – was merely some naive college girl who
had been tricked.

Olivia’s sharp gaze quickly spotted that his leg had been broken. She lifted her eyes slightly. “This might hurt a little.”
Without another word, she pushed and pulled, snapping his leg back into ce.
Edward barely had time to process what happened before a stabbing, bone–deep pain shot through his leg, cold sweat beading across his forehead.

“Take care of it after we get out, or you’ll lose this leg,” Olivia said, dusting off her hands, her voice steady and firm.
Then she stepped forward to help him up, only to find his entire body ice–cold.
His injuries were severe, and after being kept in this freezing hut for days, his breathing and heart rate had slowed, his blood pressure had dropped, and his muscles had begun to stiffen. He was dangerously close to cardiac arrest.
It was a clear case of severe hypothermia and right now, he was standing only by sheer willpower.
The moment they stepped outside, Olivia and the others noticed Bobby.
He was fiddling with his phone, clearly trying to make a call but unable to get through, his frustration in to see.

Olivia motioned for Ang to support Edward, then stepped forward and patted Bobby on the shoulder.
“You really don’t listen, do you?” Her voice was as soft as a feather, yet every word was wrapped in an indescribable hint of madness. “No wonder you’re the child of criminals.”
Olivia turned Bobby around to face her. For some reason, the moment he saw her, a flicker of fear shed in his eyes. Hisshes trembled, and his voice shook. “M–Miss, I–I’m not-”
Ang opened her mouth to speak, but Edward stopped her. He knew exactly what was going on- he had been deceived by Bobby.
When he had first arrived in the small town, Edward had run into Bobby and asked him a few questions.
He hadn’t expected the boy to be unusually sharp, able to tell in just a few exchanges that Edward was here to investigate. In a few seemingly innocent sentences, Bobby had coaxed a lot of information out of him.
If Bobby had been an adult, Edward wouldn’t have said a word. But he was just a child—young, naive, harmless–looking–so Edward had let his guard downpletely and told him everything.
Just as Edward finished gathering evidence and was about to leave, a group of townsfolk surrounded him and blocked his way.
And Bobby exined that he was afraid Edward would arrest his parents.
In the end, it all came down to Edward being careless.
Bobby’s face turned deathly pale.
‘I caught you red–handed.” Olivia’s cool fingertips brushed against Bobby’s cheek. “Tell me… how should I punish you?”
The boy rubbed his hands together, eyes shimmering with tears. He pleaded, “Miss, I’m sorry. I know I was wrong, but I just didn’t want my mom and dad to be taken away. I-”
Before he could finish, Olivia gripped his chin and tossed a pill into his mouth. The entire movement was smooth and swift, leaving Bobby no time to react.
The boy clutched at his throat, his face flushing red as he coughed violently. “What did
