Alpha Henry’s voice was bitter, yet still unyielding. “I tried so many times, but at the final moment you’re always clear–headed. Aubrey, this isn’t how someone in love acts. You’ve been lying to yourself that you love me. And I–I was foolish enough to believe it…”
He gave a cold, mocking shake of his head, stepped back as though to leave.
Aubrey’s eyes narrowed. Suddenly she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him hard.
In his startled gaze, her eyes grew sharper and sharper. Her voice came low and hoarse, each word pressed out with force. “If I didn’t love you… I would never have despaired!”
She shoved him against the wall, fisting his cor and forcing him to look down at her. “If I didn’t love you, I should have destroyed you!”
Her tone darkened, chilling. “Alpha, you’re right! I’m not as clear–cut as I im. Anyone who wronged me, even if they’ve done nothing wrong in this life–so what? If they hurt me, they deserve death. They deserve hell! And if I punish you with my love–so what? This is already the lightest punishment!”
“Then I’d rather you be crueler!”
In the shadow of Aubrey’s venom, Alpha Henry snapped as well, his reason unraveling.
“At least then I wouldn’t feel so powerless with you. Are you happy? I can’t fight you. So I’d rather you hurt me and let me give up!”
“It’s not toote now…” Aubrey released his cor and stepped back. “We can still be enemies, if that’s what you want.”
Henry said nothing.
Silence stretched between them, until Aubrey suddenly let out a softugh. “If you don’t want to turn against me, then may I leave?”
The words struck like a de twisting in Henry’s chest. His eyes widened in disbelief, then reddened with a manicugh. “Go…”
He pointed at the door. “Get out!”
Faced with his roar, Aubrey said nothing. She didn’t even take her luggage–she simply left.

One day, during a pause in the experiments, Barry finally approached Aubrey with a helpless report. “Ms. Mary, the matter you asked me to investigate has results. I’ve found that a forest witch had in her possession a potion that can unterally sever a Moon Goddess contract.”
Aubrey froze.
Barry went on, shame in his expression. “But after much negotiation, she told me the potion has already been given away. She has no more. That kind of potion is extremely rare–she only ever had that one bottle. So… we won’t be able to buy it.”
