That evening, Jaxon came home looking furious.
“You had me investigated?”
He suddenly mmed a document on the table.
It was the PI contract with my signature.
“Who told you?” I asked, though I already knew.
“Melody said someone was following her. She called the police and found out you hired them.”
Heughed coldly.
“Iris, I never thought you’d stoop this low.”
“I just wanted to know the truth.”
“What truth?” He stepped closer, eyes ice–cold. “You think I’m cheating?”
“I…”
“Three years, and you still don’t trust me.”
“I work sixteen hours a day–for what? For our future! And what do you do? Spy on me, suspect me,in like a bitter
housewife!”
“I was just…”
“Enough!” He cut me off. “Melody is my assistant, nothing more. She’s excellent, capable, rational–she’d never throw tantrums like you do.”
“So she’s better than me?”
He was quiet for a moment.
“At least she doesn’t waste time on pointless jealousy.”
“Jazon,” I looked at him, “do you realize the system calls her the master and me a guest?”
“I told you! That’s a bug!”
I shook my head.
“No, it’s not a bug. It’s the truth. In this house, she’s thedy of this house and I’m just a outsider.”
“If that’s how you want to see it, I can’t help you.”
With that, he turned toward the stairs.
“I’m sleeping in the office. You need to do some serious self–reflection.”

I sat in the living room, listening to his footsteps upstairs.
DING-
My phone lit up with a message, it’s Melody.
[Iris, why do this to yourself? You’re only pushing Jax toward me.]
[Oh, forgot to mention–starting tomorrow I’m officially moving into thepany’s executive suite. It’s right next to JAX’s office]
[For work convenience, of course. You understand, right?]
I deleted the messages and called Lora:
“I’ve got the evidence. Help me draw up the divorce papers.”
