Chapter 1798

    ?Chapter 1798:

Shaun’s face flushed with anger, though he clearly didn’t dare strike back. “Look, I’m in love with you, but could you at least treat me like a person and not a punching bag?”<fn4a1c> Original content can be found at fινdnοvel</fn4a1c>

“I’ve got to get my licks in now,” Tracy shot back. “Or I might not get the chanceter.”

“What? Don’t say things like that!” Shaun eximed, his voice tinged with panic. “When I’m back on my feet, you’ll pay for this, mark my words! I’m keeping a tally of every single p!”

Tracy arched a brow andnded another stinging blow. “Oh, you’re keeping score, are you?”

“Fifty-six! Fifty-seven!” Shaun yelped, his voice rising with each hit. “You’re relentless! You’ll break my nose at this rate! Fifty-eight…”

Elyse softly clicked the door shut, unable to stomach any more of the bizarre spectacle. She couldn’t help but wonder if this meant the two were back together—or if this was some twisted new spin on couples’ therapy.

And Shaun, for all his griping, didn’t even try to shield himself. He just sat there, taking every blow Tracy dished out.

Shaking her head in disbelief, Elyse turned to leave the hospital just as Peyton strolled up, a bright grin lighting up his face.

“Not sticking around for your buddy?” he asked, his tone as chipper as ever.

“Tracy is keeping him plenty upied,” Elyse quipped. “He would probably rather take the ps than have me hovering like a mother hen. I think it’s time I hit the road.”

Peyton’s grin widened. “Then why don’t you tag along with me?”

“Where to?” Elyse asked, her curiosity piqued.

“Clive just wrapped up his big work project in Watscar, and he’s taking a breather to swing by Cambape and catch up with us,” Peyton exined. “Jayden is tied up in a meeting, but how about you join me in the meantime?”

Elyse’s face broke into a warm smile as she agreed without hesitation. “Sounds good to me.”

“Just let me change real quick,” Peyton said. “Clive has been so swamped; he hasn’t even had a spare minute to shoot the breeze.”

“I’d wager he’s raking it in hand over fist,” Elyse remarked with a chuckle.

“Oh, he’s swimming in dough,” Peyton said, a hint of jealousycing his tone as he weighed Clive’s family fortune against his own hard-earned doctor’s wages.

They strolled into the restaurant, and as luck would have it, ran smack into Clive.

Peyton, over the moon, slung an arm around Clive’s neck with a boisterous grin. “You finally showed up, man! Do you have any idea how long it’s been since we’ve all kicked back with a drink?”

Clive let out a heartyugh. “How long has it been, then?”

“Years!” Peyton dered with theatrical ir, throwing his hands up for emphasis.

Clive chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. He reached into his bag and pulled out a small, exquisitely wrapped gift, presenting it to Elyse with a warm smile.

Elyse blinked in surprise. “What is this for?”
