Chapter 1816

    ?Chapter 1816:

Peyton looked puzzled. “What are you talking about? Just lie down. In a few days, I’ll take you to meet Clive.”

Aileen frowned. “Why are you being so generous about that?”<fnc08b> Updates are released by f?ndnovel</fnc08b>

Peyton studied her momentarily before asking, “You’re sober, aren’t you?”

Holding her breath, she stammered, “I-I’m not drunk. I can still drink.”

Peyton sighed, his patience wearing thin. “Enough. Your dad was right to keep you away from alcohol. I also won’t let you drink anymore.”

Aileen pouted, clearly not taking him seriously. “And if I want to? Can you stop me?”

Peyton reached out and gently shut her eyes with his hand. “You’re talking too much. Just rest.”

After saying that, he straightened up, settled into a chair, and pulled out his phone to check his messages.

Aileeny still, unable to sleep. She watched him, her mind drifting. He was nothing like Clive.

Clive had a rugged, manding presence—impossible to ignore. Peyton, on the other hand, had a quieter charm. His appeal wasn’t immediate, but the more she looked, the more intriguing he became.

When the two stood together, Clive turned heads. But Peyton was a mystery—one that pulled her in and made her want to uncover everyyer.

She knew Peyton was a good man, yet she still couldn’t forget Clive.

    Hesitation gnawed at her.

Did wanting them both make her a terrible person?

A few dayster, the trial for Corrie’s murder began.

Elyse and Jennie sat in the courtroom, watching as the proceedings unfolded.

To their surprise, no one from Carrie’s family showed up. Only awyer stood in Corrie’s defense.

Gone was the graceful, confident woman Corrie had once been. She looked hollow now, and her beauty faded as if the years had caught up with her all at once.

Her once-arrogant eyes now held nothing but emptiness.

She pleaded guilty without hesitation. The sentence: ten years in prison.

Before she was taken away, Elyse managed to see her—thanks to a favor from Jayden.

When Corrie saw Elyse, she tried to smile, but it came out as a painful grimace.

“You came to witness my downfall?” she asked, her voice brittle.

Elyse met her gaze calmly. “Jayden asked me to give you something.” Reaching into her purse, she took out a photo and handed it over. The moment Corrie saw it, her fingers trembled. She bit her lip, struggling to steady herself. “How did he get this?” she whispered. The photo showed Louis with his arm around Corrie, a happy grin on his face. Corrie, on the other hand, looked distant—detached.
