Chapter 1824

    ?Chapter 1824:

“Not true!” Peyton countered immediately. “She’s still young. How can she truly understand her feelings? She hasn’t dated anyone else to explore yet. She’s just temporarily captivated by his good looks.”

Jayden’s smile held a hint of mischief. “So, Aileen ought to like you, correct?”

Peyton nodded. “Absolutely. Who else would she fancy? I’m the one who will marry her.”

Having spoken, Peyton noticed Jayden’s knowing smile, which left him feeling uneasy. He rubbed his nose. “Anyway, you go ahead. I need to take care of some other things.”

With that, he quickly made his exit.

Elyse crossed her arms, her expression echoing Jayden’s insight. “He really isn’t being truthful with himself. I assumed he would openly acknowledge his feelings for Aileen.”

Jayden remarked, “Don’t be misled by his easygoing facade with us. He’s been a standout since he was young, especially in the field of medicine. That’s precisely why he managed to take over the family hospital and assume the role of director without any challenges. For a man of his talents, admitting that he has feelings for a woman is exceedingly difficult. His pride simply won’t allow it.”

Elysemented, “His excessive pride might risk losing his secret crush.”

“Not necessarily,” Jayden responded. “In matters of the heart, he’s more adept than I am.”

Elyse, clearly annoyed, said, “So you’re admitting you’re unreliable in rtionships?”

Jayden gave her cheek a yful pinch and kissed her, saying with a grin, “Unreliable, but my darling is the rock in our rtionship.”

“You little fool,” Elyse said with a softugh.

At that moment, Chloe came over with a dessert. “I got you a cherry mousse, your favorite.”

Elyse turned to see the bright red cherries and felt a wave of nausea wash over her. The taste in her mouth soured, but she managed to say, “I’m not hungry just yet. Please enjoy it yourself.”

Chloe didn’t ask any more questions and started enjoying the mousse herself.

“There you are.” Tracy wheeled over a wheelchair, with Shaun sitting in it, looking forlorn.

Shaun was holding an ice pack to his cheek, looking thoroughly miserable. Seeing the handprint on his face, Elyse couldn’t help butment, “Maybe ease up on him? His face seems puffier than usual.”

Tracy looked at Shaun with a helpless expression and exined, “It’s not my doing. He tried to ditch me. If I don’t keep him in line, who will?”

Elyse turned to Shaun. “What’s there to fear? You’ll be on your feet soon enough.”

Shaun, looking distressed, said, “Can’t we just wait until I’m able to stand before going out? I don’t want to see anyone right now.”<fn47e9> This text is hosted at FιndNovel</fn47e9>

Tracy responded decisively, “No way. You’re not one to shy away. Even in a wheelchair, you should meet the world head-on.”

With that decision made, she added, “I’m taking Shaun to grab a bite. You guys chat.”

After they left, Elyse mused, “Sometimes I think Shaun might actually be a masochist. Despite how Tracy treats him, he doesn’t leave.”
