?Chapter 1836:
Her mood was already dark, and the sight of DeWitt only deepened her annoyance.
DeWitt, appearing more humble, adjusted his stance. “I came back to apologize,” he admitted. “I have feelings for you, and I didn’t realize how much my actions were bothering you. I was wrong. Please, let me buy you a drink as an apology.”
Aileen was startled. Seeing DeWitt, typically so arrogant, offering an apology was unexpected. She regarded him warily, yet he seemed genuinely remorseful. Gradually, she began to let her guard down.
“Apology epted,” she responded with a dismissive shrug. “But keep the drink. I don’t want it.”
DeWitt didn’t leave. Instead, he moved past Aileen and struck up a conversation with Erica.
As their discussion shifted to topics that caught Aileen’s interest, she found herself joining in. The earlier tension slowly melted away.
Peyton had been watching from a distance.
At first, he felt a sense of satisfaction as Aileen turned away her suitors, but the sight of DeWitt close to her sparked a surge of anger. Was she really that oblivious? Couldn’t she see that DeWitt was clearly making advances, practically leaning into her space? Why wasn’t she pushing him away?
In frustration, Peyton squeezed a beer bottle in his grip, the action doing little to soothe his inner turmoil. He could stand it no longer. Aileen’s behavior was infuriating him.
Soon, he stood and approached her decisively.
Sensing someone watching, Aileen nced up to find Peyton’s eyes burning with anger. Her heart raced, caught off guard by the intensity of his stare, yet a trace of joy sparked within her.
Peyton came to a halt before her. “Have you had enough?” he asked curtly. “How long are you nning to stay?”

Aileen’s face remained impassive. “Why are you here?” she retorted. “My business is none of your concern.”
Peyton’s temper red. “None of my concern?” he repeated sharply. “Are you sure about that?”
A chill of fear ran through Aileen, yet she stood her ground. “Yes! It’s none of your concern! You don’t care about me. I don’t need your concern!”
She felt a rush of fury. He had neglected her all evening, and now he had the nerve to confront her and raise his voice. Why should she endure this?
Peyton’s face tightened with anger. He was beyond frustrated. “You mean it?” he said through clenched teeth. “Think about it onest time.”
“That’s right,” Aileen fired back fiercely. “I don’t want your concern. Just leave!”
No longer able to tolerate her defiance, Peyton turned sharply and walked away.
Erica, sensing the tension mounting, gently tugged at Aileen’s sleeve. “He’s really gone,” she whispered. “Maybe you should go after him and make things right. This isn’t worth breaking up over. It was just a small fight.”
DeWitt quickly countered her suggestion. “That’s hardly fair to her,” he protested. “His behavior was totally out of line. She’s visibly upset, and he just ignored it, choosing instead to point fingers. He’s not the right guy for her.”
Erica gave him a dismissive nce. “Stay out of this,” she replied. “It’s none of your business.”<fnc83b> Updates are released by find·novel</fnc83b>
“I have every right to voice my opinion,” DeWitt insisted. “I’m a man, and I understand these things. He’s trouble, I’m telling you. Aileen, you need to be more selective. Find someone who truly loves you.”
