?Chapter 1843:
“You do the honors,” Tracy urged with a grin.
Elyse blinked, thrown off-kilter. “What’s the big deal about who opens the door?”
Jennie nudged her forward. “Go on, you lead the way—we’ll trail behind.”
Elyse couldn’t shake the…
Feeling that their behavior was out of the ordinary today, yet choosing to keep her thoughts to herself, Elyse nudged the door ajar. A shower of streamers and sparkling confetti drifted gently around her.
The room beyond dazzled with romantic lights and a melody that wrapped around Elyse like a warm embrace. Frozen at the entrance, she wavered, caught between stepping into the enchantment or lingering in her bewilderment.
Observing the moment, Tracy sighed with a touch of exasperation. “Come on now, don’t dawdle at the door—step inside already!”
Elyse blinked away her trance and ventured forward with tentative steps. The room unveiled itself as a masterpiece of thoughtfulness, adorned with the roses she adored and a cascade of gifts stacked like a miniature peak.
Struck speechless for a moment, her silence sent Tracy into a quiet frenzy. She leaned toward Jennie, murmuring urgently, “What’s happening? We’ve delivered Elyse as nned, but where’s Jayden? He was supposed to sweep in with the proposal by now!”
Jennie hushed back, flustered. “Beats me! This is getting sticky. Should I step up and propose myself? I would hate for Elyse to feel left in the lurch.”
Tracy squirmed, the awkwardness settling over her too.
Elyse, meanwhile, steadied herself and drifted toward the elegant half-height cake. “Is this all Jayden’s doing?” she asked, her voiceced with wonder.
Jennie gave a small nod, her tone sheepish. “Yes, though it seems we’ve hit a snag.”

Elyse pivoted, curiosity piqued. “What sort of snag?”
“Jayden was meant to be here, proposing to you this very moment, but he is nowhere in sight,” Jennie admitted under her breath.
Tracy, her patience fraying, whipped out her phone and dialed Shaun and the rest, her voice sharp with urgency. “Enough hidinge out now! We’ve got a hup. Elyse isn’t turning down any proposal—Jayden is the one who has vanished!”
Once Tracy concluded her call, Shaun, Peyton, and a few others emerged from a private room nearby.
Peering around, Peyton expressed his surprise at the scene. “What happened here? Where’s Jayden? I thought he was going to surprise Elyse.”
With a heavy sigh, Clive said, “It seems the surprise has turned into quite the shock instead.”
Looking around the room in bewilderment, Elyse inquired, “Was tonight supposed to be the night he proposed?”
“Yes, he nned to propose tonight, but he’s disappeared, and now the proposal can’t go forward,” Peyton confirmed with a nod.<fn45a2> This text is hosted at find(?)ovel</fn45a2>
Frustrated, Clive pulled out his phone. “I’m going to call him. What could he possibly be thinking, disappearing at a moment like this?”
Jennie, realizing the gravity of the situation, grabbed her phone. “Let me contact Brook. Perhaps Jayden had to go to the office for something urgent.”
Minutester, after exchanging worried looks, Jennie and Clive’s faces were etched with concern.
