“Is Jeffrey resting, or is he with Reba?” Andrea thought about the message on her phone, and her feelings got out of control.

Jeffrey had agreed with Andrea to give Reba a hard time, but now he was favoring Reba in everything.

Gregory remained expressionless, his tone all business. “Mr. Hanson’s private life is not for an assistant like me to ask about.”

Andrea looked at him. She knew he was lying.

Everyone in Jsburg knew Gregory was Jeffrey’s right–hand man. He had been by Jeffrey’s side even before Jeffrey took over the Hanson Group. He knew Jeffrey’s daily ns inside out.

“Can you help me contact him?” Andrea suppressed her emotions, not confronting Gregory directly.

Gregory took out his phone and dialed Jeffrey’s number in front of her.

The same automated voice came through. “Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavable.”

Afraid she wouldn’t hear, he put it on speaker. “Mr. Hanson switched off his phone.”

Andrea was speechless. Of course she knew it was switched off.

“When he turns his phone on, tell him I’ve been discharged.” Andrea pulled out the IV needle, threw off the covers, and started to get out of bed. “I don’t like being alone in the hospital.”

Gregory reached out his arm and blocked her. “Mr. Hanson ordered me to watch over you.”

Then he called the nurse to put the IV needle back in.

Andrea wanted to refuse, but hesitated when she saw Gregory’s unreadable expression.

A gut feeling warned her that if she refused, he wouldn’t hesitate to have someone restrain her and force the needle in. And if she pulled it out, he’d just have it put right back in again and again.

At this thought, Andrea suddenly felt unsure.

Seeing her cooperate quietly without trouble, Gregory felt relieved. ‘Mr. Garcia’s trick worked,’ he thought.

Jeffrey was still asleep, and he didn’t know what was going on with Andrea. He held Reba the whole time, sleeping for hours.

Reba tried every trick, but couldn’t escape. She didn’t dare bite him to get free; if she did, she was sure he might do something improper.

With their difference in strength, she didn’t dare risk it.

Feeling Reba in his arms, he realized it wasn’t a dream. He wanted to sleep more, but stopped himself when he saw it was getting dark.

He knew Reba and Samuel needed to have dinner now.

“Now that you’re awake, let me go.” Reba felt his grip loosening.

Jeffrey wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close. He buried his face in her neck and kissed her behind the ear, his warm breath sending little chills down her spine.

She turned, ready to hit him. But his grip was too strong, giving her little room to move.

She reached out, ced her hand on his thigh, and pinched him hard.

“Why are you pinching me?” Jeffrey’s voice was deep and low from waking up. “You’ve slept in my arms for so long. Don’t I deserve a kiss?”

Reba snapped, “Don’t you have any shame? If you hadn’t held me down, would I be stuck here?”

“Did I grab you?” Jeffrey replied.

Reba braced herself and tried to shove him off. “Didn’t you…”

Before she could finish, she found herself slipping out of his arms.

Jeffrey’s sharp eyes watched her coldly, as if he was silently using her of being the one clinging to him.

Fists clenched in anger, Reba threw off the covers and stood up. When she stepped over him, she stomped hard on his thigh.

    Jeffrey frowned in pain.

Not satisfied, she ground her foot down harder.

Jeffrey’s strong hand grabbed her ankle.

Reba instinctively tried to pull free. After a few failed attempts, she just let him have it for a moment. Then she quickly lifted her other foot and stomped toward his crotch.

The fury in her eyes and that sharp, merciless move sent Jeffrey a crystal–clear message–if she really followed through, he’d be done for.

He quickly let go of her ankle and shifted his stance.

Reba’s footnded on the bed with a muffled thud.

Jeffrey stared at her beautiful foot for a second. Then his unreadable gaze shifted to her angry face.

‘Damn, she really didn’t hold back with that kick, Jeffrey thought.

“What are you staring at?” Reba felt uneasy under his gaze but stayed calm. “Serves you right for grabbing me like that.”

Jeffrey said nothing. He slowly got out of bed, put on his shoes, and left the bedroom.

The calmer he seemed, the more anxious Reba felt. Usually, this meant he was nning revenge.

“Besides, this is my house,” Reba argued, trying to put Jeffrey in the wrong. “You came in without permission. That’s trespassing and illegal.”

Jeffrey stopped in his tracks and turned around.

Reba’s heart raced, but she kept a straight face. “Am I wrong?”

“If you think you’re right,” Jeffrey said calmly, his voice intimidating, “then why are you afraid?”

    Reba pursed her lips.

Jeffrey spoke slowly, “Want to call the police?”

Reba was at a loss for words.

Under normal circumstances, this kind of situation urring during a divorce could indeed be reported to the police. But Reba knew Jeffrey had a hundred ways to justify his presence aswful.

Calling the police would only put her at a disadvantage again. It wouldn’t do her any real good.

“If you’re not calling, get me a ss of water,” Jeffrey demanded without the slightest hint of courtesy.

Reba knew she’d lost this round. “We don’t have water here,” she shot back.

Jeffrey nced at her in silence. He then grabbed his phone, which was charging nearby, and turned it on. The battery was full, and several missed call alerts popped up on the screen.

He didn’t check them. Instead, he sent a quick text to have dinner delivered.

Not long after, his bodyguard appeared at the door with a nutritious and tasty meal.

Jeffrey went to Samuel’s room and called him out to eat, making himself right at home.

“Victor wille to pick you up tomorrow morning,” Jeffrey said to Samuel, his tone serious. “You’ll be staying at your mom’s manor for the next few days.”

    Samuel looked over at Reba.

Before Reba could speak, Jeffrey said, “Your mom has work at thepany. She’ll pick you up after she’s done on Thursday.”

Reba wanted to ask why he had deliberately nned the so–calledpany retreat and wee party, but with Samuel present, she held back, not wanting to start a conversation that could easily turn into an

    argument.

Just as he was about to spend more time with Samuel, a message from Gregory popped up on his phone: [Mr. Hanson, are you up?]

Jeffrey typed back a quick reply: [Yes.]

As soon as the message was sent, Gregory called immediately.

After ncing at Reba and Samuel, Jeffrey walked to the balcony, swiped to answer, and asked in a steady voice, “What’s wrong?”

“Ms. Scott somehow found out you were at Ms. Jensen’s ce,” Gregory said honestly. “She’s a bit upset and hasn’t eaten all afternoon.”

Jeffrey’s eyes darkened as he replied, “Got it.”
