any indication Maximus stared at Killian from afar, he was training with the other warriors, he didn’t show that he was up to something, even though he still felt suspicious with his real intention about why he joined the pce warrior to be sent to the war when he could get everything easily in his pack.
He didn’t look like someone with ambition, even his fighting skill was average at best, yet he could be very charming. He could befriend anyone, and now most of the newly recruited warrior knew him.
“What are you thinking?” Den asked. He still disagreed with Maximus‘ way to handle the situation with the
warrior.
He still strongly believed that Maximus had done something wrong by killing an innocent warrior, when he couldn’t prove he said the wrong thing.
But when Maximus pointed out that it was Den who reported back to him that no one had seen Killian around that time, the royal beta backpedaled. He had a lot of theory for that, and Maximus didn’t have the patience to listen, or understand any of those.
“Nothing.”
Den looked at Maximus suspiciously. It would be more than just ‘nothing‘, if he was staring at the same person for longer than necessary.
“Are you still thinking about what happened?” Den sighed deeply when he didn’t get the answer. He wanted to say that he shouldn’t have killed the warrior.
However, he had said that a few times, and if he voiced the same thing again, it would only make Maximus’s mood plummeted.
He had been in a stable mood in the past few days because he had visited Rania’s bedroom a few times. And every time he returned from those visits, he would reek of sex.
“The elders keep asking when will you hold the ceremony for the queen. You have not yet announced her to the public.”
Maximus waved his hand. “I will do it when I think it’s the right time.”
“When?” Den followed him. “She has been here for close to half a year, if you still don’t want to announce her as your mate, it almost looks like you only want to keep her around for your pleasure.”
Den immediately shut his mouth when he received a death re from Maximus for hisment. But, deep inside, he believed with what he was saying. He was right to think that way, though.
“You handle things here,” Maximus said and then left the training ground.
“What? It should be Eiten here!”
The warriors were not his responsibility. It was part of Eiten’s assignment, while Den would handle the administration part of the kingdom.

However, the royal gamma was nowhere to be found, he had been sneaking around in thest few days.
Rania stared at the distance, she was sitting on the windowsill of her bedroom. She was still thinking about what Eiten let her know a few days ago.
He told her about the abuse that Maximus had to receive when he was little, and hearing about that alone made Rania felt chill down her spine.
People used to see the previous king was a benevolent figure, but who would have thought that the image was
built on lies.<fnc82e> Th? link to the orig?n of this information r?sts ?n FιndNovel</fnc82e>
The king was even more evil than Caden or her father. If Rania had topare what the previous king had done to her, and the way ric treated her all this time, it almost like her father was a saint.
Who would have whipped their son to near death only because he failed to kill a warrior, whomitted a mistake?
The warrior didn’t bow as deep as king Raynold wanted, and he ordered eight years Maximus to kill the said
warrior.
Obviously, that was another level of craziness, and it was only a fraction of what Maximus had to go through when he was little.
There was a point when it was hard for Rania to listen to what Eiten would say next.
Maximus was often starved, which was way more brutal than what Rania had to go through, and hearing all of that elicited a deep trauma that she tried to bury.
They went through simr thing, though Maximus seemed to receive it worse, aside from the rape.
However, he had to endure the mental punishment when he had to kill anyone his father told him. The previous king wouldugh with delight when he watched his son ended someone else’s life.
Little did he know, his own life would end in his son’s hands too.
And that was the root of Maximus’s bloodlust. He was trained to kill, to be a murderer, and the more he couldn’t control his anger, the more the previous king praised him for that.
Maximus was even forced to fight a battle hardened warrior when he was only thirteen years old. It was not a simple training, but fight to death kind of thing.
Maximus had been fighting for his life, he was being surrounded by death ever since he learned about this world, and that was the only thing that he knew. The only way how tomunicate. He learned that you have to instill fear on your people to keep them in line.
And for E…
Eiten told her that E was a mother figure for Maximus. If there was one person that he respected and listened to, it would be her, but unfortunately, she was killed before his eyes, while Maximus couldn’t do

Eiten believed that was the time when something was broken permanently inside of Maximus.
“Mydy, what are you thinking?”
Rania almost jumped out of her skin when she heard Kean’s voice was so close to her, and she breathed deeply when she saw the girl stare at her with confusion, because of her reaction.
“I am sorry, but I have called you a few times, but you didn’t listen…” she looked apologetic. “Here, I bring you another bottle. How could you finish the poison so fast? Don’t make it too obvious.”
“Don’t worry, he is strong enough not to die so fast,” Rania murmured under her breath. She took the poison from her hand. Lately, she had been having a hard time to breath, and she assumed it was because of the poison.
However, Maximus didn’t seem to show any symptom at all. His body indeed was built differently.
“Do you have something in your mind?” Kean sat to her. She was the only person that Rania could call as a friend. “You can tell me anything, mydy. I will help you with anything that I can.”
Rania then looked at her for a little while, she contemted whether or not to ask her about it.
“Do you know why Killian is here?”
“From what I know he is here to lead the warriors when they are ready to attack the king.” Kean lowered her voice, just in case someone overheard what she said.
This was a treason, and she could be beheaded for it.
“When it will happen?”
Kean straightened her back. “I don’t know,” she quipped.
Rania knew she was lying. Kean did know.
