“What are you talking about with Gayle?” Maximus asked, he camete at night, and found Rania was sleeping
up instead. on the sofa. He carried her back to her bed, but she woke
Therefore, he didn’t waste time, and asked the question that he had been wanting to ask her ever since he learned Gayle came to her.
The sneaky old man actually left the pce after he had this conversation with Rania, he imed a week leave to be with his family.
That bastard.
Maximus didn’t have a bad blood with him, but he could be very intrusive if you let him. If anything, that old man was the only elders that Maximus could tolerate among the other twelve elders in the council.
Still, he didn’t appreciate his initiative to sneak around his back to his mate. He was going to punish the warrior, who let him talk to Rania.
Rania was a little bit groggy when she was presented with the question when she was still half asleep. “What?” She rubbed her sleepy eyes, and she looked very cute when she did that, Maximus wanted to kiss her senseless.
However, he needed to know about it first.
“What did you talk about with Gayle?” Maximus repeated the question impatiently, but he reminded himself not tosh out, since they were in a good term right now. He didn’t want to ruin it, especially because of that old hag.
and “Oh…” Rania brushed away her hair from her face. “The elder told me about what happened between you the previous king,” she said in a small, and a little bit hoarse voice. The sleepiness left her eyes, and now she looked worried, as she waited for Maximus’s reaction.
“What else?” He sat down in front of her. He was very close, Rania could smell his scent, and this made her heart was thumping wildly.
“Nothing… he only said to stay with you,” she replied, her voice was getting smaller. “He said to keep you in a good mood.”
Rania was not lying, because that was what Elder Gayle asked of her, even though that was not really correct, but that was not wrong either, Rania only rephrased it differently.
Maximus cupped her face. “Don’t lie to me.”
“I don’t.” Rania then remembered what elder Gayle told her before. “Please, don’t do anything to the warrior, who let him in.”
Elder Gayle asked this special request, because he knew Maximus would be pissed off. He wouldn’t do anything outrageous to his mate, but he definitely would punish the warrior who let him meet with Rania severely.

“You have no right to demand me that.”
Rania shook her head, she knew Maximus would be offended. “This is my plea for you. I don’t want you to kill or punish the warrior, please. I like the conversation with elder Gayle. He has a lot of stories to tell about the flowers in the garden.”
Yes, the rest of their conversation was about the flower in the garden. Elder Gayle could sense her anxiety, therefore, he changed the topic of their conversation into something irrelevant.
But in the end of it, elder Gayle said something that made Rania thought about it.
‘If you don’t trust me, try with the warrior. I believe you can convince him to cancel the punishment. I believe he will not punish the warrior if you ask him gently. He has been longing for gentleness, mydy, please, be gentle with him.’
“Please, I don’t want someone else died because of me. The warrior didn’t have other choice, he tried to stop Elder Gayle, but the elder outranked him.”
Maximus narrowed his eyes, and then sighed. “Fine.”
That was only a curt word that he said, but it was enough to secure the life of the warrior, and Rania was surprised it actually worked. He did listen to her?
She didn’t think there would be a day when the Mad King would listen to her.
“Why are you giving me that look? I said fine. I will not punish the warrior.” Maximus looked a little bit upset when Rania looked at him with that expression.
“You will not punish him.”
“No.”
“Thank you.” Rania smiled, she didn’t know why, but she felt happy to hear that.
And there was one thing that she noticed; his scary expression was not as scary as she used to see him. He looked like… a petnt child, if she could put it into word.
Whenever he didn’t get what he wanted, or if someone slight him, he would be upset, which resulted to violence, but then, Rania was reminded of a child throwing a tantrum.
Even though, with Maximus, the level of ‘tantrum‘ he disyed was in an entirely different level.
“You don’t need to thank me for that.” Maximus theny down on the bed. “Come here.”
Rania blinked her eyes, but she went closer to him before he was throwing another tantrum, after all he had been very generous to spare the warrior’s life.
“Sleep. I am tired.” He held her closer, and closed his eyes. He didn’t try to have sex with her, because today was very hectic. Maximus had been drowned in so many things to do. “I am going to take you to Bloody Moon pack tomorrow. Sleep now.”

“Yes.” Maximus then pressed her face against his chest, so she stopped talking, and they could sleep.
Rania stayed like that for a little while, she could feel the subtle change in the way his chest raised and fell, as he breathed evenly.<fn0fee> The rightful source is find?novel</fn0fee>
And she knew when exactly he fell asleep. Somehow, it gave her some peace too.
Rania closed her eyes, but she couldn’t sleep, since she was just woken up, thus she spent the next an hour or so, staring at Maximus’s sleeping face. He looked more approachable when he was sleeping.
The permanent scowl on his face seemed disappear.
And this thought came to her; what if she could convince him to stop the war? What if she could convince him to be a good person?
Elder Gayle believed that she could do that, and Maximus’s decision to spare the warrior’s life was aligned with what Elder Gayle told her; Maximus would yield at her request.
But of course, she knew that making Maximus stopped the war would be a great deal. It wouldn’t be like when she convinced him to spare the warrior’s life.
Yet, she did it.
Probably, there was hope that she could convince him about the war too. Probably, it would take a long time, but it would be worth it, right?
Rania furrowed her brows. Her head was a little bit dizzy, and she decided to stop her train of thought, and slept.
Tomorrow the king would take her somewhere, and she was a little bit nervous, since this would be their first trip together.
When the morning came, Rania woke up very early like usual, but she was hit with a strong dizziness, and the urge to vomit.
Without a second thought, she hobbled to the bathroom, and vomited into the toilet.
