Chapter 143: Chapter 143: I want the Truth

Selene rose slowly, brushing off the forest dust from her skirt. Her lips curved, though her heart churned with a storm of hatred. She bowed lightly, as if in respect, and whispered in a voice so soft it could almost be mistaken for submission.
"Alpha," she said, her tone honeyed. "I don’t like being with you."
Navien blinked, confused for a moment, but before he could react she continued, her smile never breaking.
"My ambitions are... greater than you can fulfill." Her eyes glimmered as she tilted her head in an innocent way. "But perhaps, if you tell me more about yourself... about your powerful friends... maybe then you could satisfy me."
Her words were yful, teasing, but her eyes searched his face carefully. She wanted names. She wanted to know which men had stood beside him when her mother was ruined, who still breathed and walked freely while her family was broken. She wanted to carve those names into her heart so she could destroy them, one by one.
Navien’s eyes lit up. He mistook her cunning for interest. In that aspect, he liked her intelligent brain. A darkugh rolled from his throat.
"You clever little thing," he said, stepping closer. "You think too much. But I like that. You want to know my friends? Oh, little beauty, they are the best of men." His grin twisted. "The kind who don’t mind sharing. Do you understand? We’ve done it before. The pleasure grows when we are together... with someone like you."
His voice was thick with lust, his words dripping filth. He licked his lips again, already lost in his fantasies.
Selene’s smile sharpened, though she kept it soft enough to fool him. "Is that so?" she whispered. "Then tell me. Who are these men? What kind of alphas do you keep so close?"
Navien chuckled darkly, circling her like a wolf toying with prey. "Oh, there are many. Some from the old council. Some still with me, some not. Men of taste. Men who know how to enjoy what others dare not touch." His eyes raked over her again. "And you, little beauty, would be perfect in our world."
His hand reached out, greedy fingers wanting to grab her arm.
A sudden growl broke through the air. The ck wolf beside her bared his teeth, fur bristling, ready tounch at the man’s throat.
But Selene raised her hand gently, cing her palm against the wolf’s forehead. Her touch calmed him, though his body still shook with the need to protect her.
"Stay," she whispered in her heart. "This battle is mine alone. Watch, little wolf. See how I handle this bastard."
Navien, drunk on his own fantasies, didn’t even notice the deadly promise hidden in her eyes. He only saw the sweet smile, the curved lips, the glint that he mistook for desire.
Selene tilted her head again, her voice light as silk.
"Alpha, you are really too excited. If you want me, you must satisfy me first. Answer me."
Her words daring him.
And Navienughed again, already too far gone in the world of his own filth to realize that the girl before him was not prey at all.
This time Navien’s fingers wrapped tight around her hand. He smirked as he rubbed his thumb over her skin, marveling at its softness. His mind burned with filthy thoughts, already imagining her beneath him, writhing in the dirt while he took what he wanted.
"Soft..." he muttered, lips curling, his eyes clouded with hunger. "So soft. I wondered..."
But his fantasy shattered in an instant.
A sharp hiss escaped him. He yanked his hand back, staring at the thin red slit that had appeared across his palm. Blood welled up slowly.
Selene’s smile deepened. She didn’t move, her voice soft as silk, almost tender.
"Do you know what mistake you just made, Alpha?"
Navien’s face twisted, his eyes darting from the cut back to her calm smile.
"Wh-what—?"
Her eyes glimmered with quiet delight.
"You let a witch touch you."
The word mmed into him like a curse itself. His breath caught, his chest heaving. "Witch? You... you’re a witch?"
Seleneughed at his stupidity. How could this big-bodied werewolf have such low intelligence?
"You werewolves are strong, yes. But your greatest weakness is that you think with nothing but your lower body."
Navien opened his mouth to snarl... but the sound that came out was a scream. His body convulsed violently, his knees buckling as he dropped to the ground.
Selene’s grip on his hand remained unshaken. She tightened it slightly, and the pain wracked him harder. He thrashed, rolling like a worm on the forest floor, spit flying as curses tumbled from his mouth.
"Y-you bitch! Let go! Let me go or I’ll tear you apart! You filthy whore—"
Selene’s voice cut him cold.
"If you were alive, perhaps you could."
Blood began to drip from his nose, then his ears, then his eyes. His skin turned pale as the spell worked wonders in his body, shredding both his body and mind.
Selene crouched slowly before him with a calm smile. She watched him writhe, watched his dignity peel away piece by piece until he was nothing but a broken animal in the dirt.
"This spell," she whispered softly, almost lovingly, "requires the blood of the man it binds. You gave it to me willingly."

Navien gagged on his own spit, his voice breaking. "Wh-who... who are you?"
Selene tilted her head. Her smile didn’t fade.
"You don’t need to know who I am. First, answer me." Her voice dropped colder. "Do you remember Alpha Eric Moonveil?"
At the name, Navien froze. His eyes widened in shock.
Selene leaned closer, her smile sharper.
"And his Luna. Do you remember her?"
His expression twisted in panic. He shook his head weakly. "No... no, I don’t know them—"
A new wave of agony ripped through his body. He screamed like a ughtered pig, clutching his stomach, blood now spilling from his mouth.
"I’ll answer!" he cried hoarsely. "I’ll answer, just stop—"
Selene’s gaze never wavered.
"Alpha Eric was my friend," Navien panted. "His Luna... I saw her a few times, that’s all, I don’t know much..."
Selene’s smile turned icy. "Do you think I’m a fool?"
The spell tightened, and another piercing scream tore from his throat. His body jerked violently against the ground, dirt mixing with the blood pouring from his face.
Selene’s voice was calm, unhurried.
"I want the truth."
Navien’s eyes rolled in his skull. He gasped, trembling, then choked out a whisper.
His voice cracked. "Yes... I remember..."
Selene’s eyes glimmered like a predator’s in the dark.
"Say it."
