By the time ire returned home from work, Jacob was still sulking and lookingpletely defeated.
Charlie understood that Jacob’s mood was due to the auction invitation card.
Just then, Jasmine called and said, “Hi, Mr. Wade! I’m sorry for thete notice. I was at Lancaster on business this afternoon, and now I’m waiting downstairs at your ce. Could you pleasee down to collect the invitation card from me?”
Charlie replied instantly, “Sure, I’ll be right there!”
He rushed out the door and headed downstairs.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Jasmine sat in her Rolls Royce, waiting for Charlie. When she saw him, she quickly exited the car and handed him two invitation cards.
Charlie expressed his gratitude and made his way back home.
Once inside, Jacob was still brooding and visibly upset.
ire attempted to calm him down, saying, “Dad, please take a deep breath. Grandma gave the invitation card to Harold so he could meet some influential people in the business world and expand his socialwork.”
Jacob sighed heavily. “Ugh, your grandma has always favored Harold and his father. Ever since we were kids, she’s looked down on me! This is so infuriating!”
ire nodded in understanding. She was aware that her grandmother held a preference for her cousin and uncle over her own family.
Initially, her grandma favored her uncle because she believed her father was weak and incapable.
As a girl, ire’s grandma felt deprived of her right to inherit the family business, which led her to be more lenient with Harold.
After ire married Charlie, her family’s status seemed to diminish significantly.
At that moment, Charlie approached Jacob with two golden invitation cards in hand, saying, “Dad, look! I have the invitation card you’ve been dreaming about.”
“What?!”
Jacob sprang up from the sofa in shock, as if a spring had been ced under him!
He grabbed the invitation from Charlie, eagerly opened it, and for a moment, he was so overwhelmed with excitement that he couldn’t speak.
ire, who observed the scene, was equally astonished. She took the invitation card from her father and realized it was the authentic invitation from the Treasure Pavilion.<fn9944> Find the newest release on Find1Novel</fn9944>
“Wow, this is incredible! Charlie, you are truly an amazing son-inw!” Jacob eximed, his face glowing with excitement.
He patted Charlie on the shoulder and added, “My daughter is so fortunate to have you as her husband.”
“Oh, it’s just an invitation card. What’s the big deal?” ine scoffed sarcastically.
Jacob shot a re at ine, clutching the invitation card tightly. “What do you know, you fool? This is an invitation from the Treasure Pavilion!”
Turning back to Charlie, he beamed, “Come on, sit down! Let’s celebrate!”
He gestured to ire, saying, “Go grab a bottle of fine whiskey from the cab. I want to enjoy a couple of drinks with my wonderful son-inw tonight.”
ine red at Charlie as she noticed her husband’s happiness, choosing to eat her dinner in silence.
ire was thrilled for her father, but a bit skeptical as well. When she returned with the whiskey, she identally bumped Charlie’s elbow as she sat down and asked, “Where did you get the invitation card, anyway?”
Earlier that day at work, she had heard her father sulking and wanted to get him an invitation too, only to realize that the invitations from the Treasure Pavilion were limited to select families!
How had Charlie managed to get one?
Charlie smiled gently and replied, “I asked a friend for help. He had two invitations but didn’t want to attend, so he gave one to me.”
“Really?” ire frowned, still unconvinced. “Howe I’ve never heard you mention a friend with such a prestigious background? What’s his name?”
Charlie answered casually, “Hisst name is Quinton. I helped him out once at Antique Street. Dad knows him…”
Jacob nodded in recognition. “Oh yes, that Quinton guy even gifted Charlie a jade bracelet worth five or six million!”
