In that moment, ire suddenly inquired, “Aren’t you supposed to be heading back to work?”
Loreen yfully stuck out her tongue before responding, “Well, my job primarily involves running around outside. Plus, I’ve never even met the chairman of Emgrand Group since I started working there, so he has no control over me whatsoever. In a way, I’m like an unsupervised employee. So, I think it’s fine for me to skip work asionally.”
Loreen continued, “Since both of you have ns, I’ll make sure to drop you off first.”
When they reached the car park, Charlie noticed Don Albert standing beside Loreen’s car. Additionally, he saw that the spot where Loreen’s car had been scratched the previous day had already been repaired.
As Albert spotted them approaching, he greeted Charlie with respect. “Mr. Wade, did you enjoy yourself?”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
“Not bad,” Charlie replied, ncing at the rear of the car. Seeing that it looked as good as new, he realized Albert had arranged for the repairs. “You did a great job.”
Albert quickly exined, “Mr. Wade, I know someone at a nearby auto repair shop, so I had a few workerse over with tools to fix the car. Are you heading home now? Would you like me to send some people to escort you?”
Charlie waved his hand dismissively. “No, no, you should focus on your own tasks. We can make our way back ourselves.”
“Alright then, Mr. Wade. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything else,” Albert said, bowing respectfully before leaving with his team.
ire shook her head in disbelief as she watched the interaction. Turning to Charlie, she remarked, “I really don’t understand why they treat you with such respect.”
Charlie smiled and replied, “Could it be because of my abilities?”
ire gave him a skeptical look. “Are you referring to your Feng Shui skills? The more they believe in you now, the more they’ll seek revenge when they find out they’ve been fooled! You should really be cautious.”
Charlie simply smiled, not wanting to argue with ire.
The three of them then got into the car and set off back to the city.
During the drive, Loreen turned to ire and asked, “Are you both going home, or do you have other ns?”
“We’re heading home,” ire replied promptly. “You should also go home and get some rest to recharge for work on Monday!”
Loreen nodded, saying, “Alright then. I’ll drop you both off before I head back to the hotel.”
ire was taken aback and asked, “You’re still staying at the hotel?”
Loreen confirmed, “Where else would I be? I’ve been living at Shangri-La all this time.”
ire inquired further, “Isn’t it lonely living at the hotel all by yourself? Why not get a house in Aurous Hill?”<fn3d99> Read full story at find?novel</fn3d99>
Loreen replied with a bittersweet smile, “It’s actually more troublesome and even lonelier to buy a house here. Living in the hotel is much easier. Someone cleans my room every day, I can order room service whenever I want, and I even haveundry service that delivers my clothes after they’re cleaned and ironed!”
For someone like Loreen, who came from wealth, convenience often outweighed the desire for a home.
ire pressed on, “What’s going on with your family? Has your cousin been bothering youtely?”
“Not anymore,” Loreen responded quickly. “I filed awsuit against my family, but they imed there wasn’t enough evidence to support my usations. Still, it seems my cousin has stopped his antics. I have a feeling he won’t dare to try anything again.”
As she spoke, Loreen nced at Charlie in the back seat and made a ‘thank you’ gesture. She knew he was the one who had warned the Thomas family about their targeting her, which exined their recent restraint.
Loreen couldn’t keep track of how many times Charlie hade to her aid.
ire felt a wave of sympathy for Loreen. Her best friend hade to Aurous Hill for work but was living alone in a hotel, betrayed and hunted by her own family.
Suddenly, ire said to Loreen, “The White family gave Charlie a vi at Thompson First. Once the renovations are done, you can move in with us!”
“Really?” Loreen eximed, clearly excited by the idea.
ire smiled and reassured her, “Of course! You’re my best friend, Loreen, so why would I lie to you?”
