    “Ohe on, just stop!” Jacob interjected, “It’s only going to be guys at the reunion. We didn’t invite any of our female ssmates.”


    “Really?” ine raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical.


    “Yes, I promise! You know how our ss was. There were only a few girls, and all of them live abroad now. So, it’s just going to be us guys at the reunion.”


    “No way, I don’t buy it! You can’t go!” ine eximed, her voice rising. “You must be nning to meet up with that old me of yours! Do you think I’m oblivious?”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">


    Charlie was taken aback. Did his father-inw actually have a romantic history he didn’t know about?

    ine rolled her eyes, turning her face away in annoyance and ignoring Jacob.


    Jacob, feeling desperate, tried again, “Charlie has toe with me anyway. Our teacher is in a wheelchair now, and there’s no elevator on campus. We need some strong young men to help lift him to the ssroom on the fifth floor. Let Charlie be my eyes and report back to you. If there’s a female there, I’ll face the consequences!”


    ine growled, “No, I won’t allow it!”


    Now clearly frustrated, Jacob eximed, “My old friends and I haven’t seen each other in years! How can I miss this?! Plus, our teacher is in his eighties—this might be thest chance I get to see him!”


    ire, observing the heated exchange, chimed in, “Mom, just let Dad go. It’s tough to organize a reunion at his age. You wouldn’t want him to be the punchline for missing it, would you?”


    ine shot her a re, responding, “What do you know? Your dad was involved with a vixen from his ss for ages. If I hadn’t pulled a few tricks, he would have ended up with her, and you wouldn’t even be here!”


    Charlie found this remark strange and somewhat amusing. It sounded like ine was the one who had stolen Jacob away, yet she acted as if she was being the rational one.


    Jacob turned crimson with embarrassment and snapped at ine, “Enough! Don’t air our dirtyundry in front of the kids!”


    Then he quickly turned to ire, his voiceced with urgency, “ire, don’t believe your mom’s wild stories. She always spins tales to make me look bad…”


    ire felt her cheeks flush. She wasn’t interested in her parents’ romantic past, so she suggested to ine, “Mom, let Dad go to the reunion, and you can y mahjong instead. Doesn’t that sound good?”


    Jacob’s eyes widened in disbelief as he retorted, “Alright, if you don’t let me go to the reunion, then you can’t go y mahjong either! We’ll just stay home and stare at each other!”


    ine was furious, shouting back, “Are you kidding me? I’m going to win big at mahjong! Summer is heading to the U.S. soon, and I have to y a few more games with her before she leaves. I can win at least three to five thousand per game!”


    Then she turned to Charlie, urgency in her tone, “Charlie, you must go with your dad! Call me the moment you see a woman at the reunion. I’ll make sure to give him a piece of my mind!”
