The receptionist wore an apologetic look as she said, “Sir, I sincerely apologize, but all our suites on the seventh floor arepletely booked. We’ve checked every option, and the only suites avable for your membership level are on the third floor or below. Would you like us to prepare a suite for you on the third floor?”
Jake responded with irritation, “What? Are you kidding me? You expect me to stay on the third floor? This is an insult to my status and membership! How will anyone view me if I’m stuck on the third floor?”
“I truly apologize, sir, but there’s nothing I can do. All suites from the fourth to the seventh floors were reserved in advance. Since you didn’t make a reservation, we’re quite limited…”
“In that case, just give me aplimentary upgrade to a suite on the eighth floor or higher!”
“I’m sorry, sir,” the receptionist replied in a polite yet firm manner. “At the Glorious Club, our policy allows for downgrades within membership tiers, but upgrades are not permitted. If your Silver card membership only grants ess up to the seventh floor, then you can only use the facilities from the seventh floor and below. It’s a strict rule of our club!”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Jake frowned and huffed in annoyance as he shouted, “I don’t care! Get me a room on the seventh floor, or find a way for me to ess the eighth floor’s suite!”
“I’m very sorry, sir, but the eighth floor is exclusive to VIP and VIP Gold members. Unfortunately, your current membership does not qualify for that level. Additionally, we’ve made it clear that no one can bypass their membership tier or upgrade their suite…”
“Rules, stiptions—forget all that! I demand a suite on the seventh floor right now! How dare you deny my request? Don’t you know that the customer is always right?!”
“I sincerely apologize, sir, but I’m not authorized to make exceptions. Perhaps you could reach out to a friend with a higher-tier membership and have them book a suite on a higher floor.”<fn7f6b> This update is avable on find[?]ovel</fn7f6b>
Jake raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Reach out to a friend, you say?”
“Yes,” the receptionist replied politely. “Most of our members hold ssic and Silver memberships, which is why there’s often a shortage of suites below the seventh floor. However, we have many vacant suites from the eighth to the fourteenth floors. If your friend is a VIP member, you could ess the tenth floor. If they are a VIP Gold member, you’d be able to go up to the fourteenth floor.”
Jake clenched his teeth in disdain, sneering, “Alright then. You want me to find a friend? I’ll find one! Just so you know, Don Albert and I are good friends. He’s a VIP member! I’m calling him right now to reserve a suite for me! And you’d better be ready to exin to Don Albert why you’ve offended his friend!”
Charlie rolled his eyes in disbelief as he observed this strange encounter.
The receptionist was merely doing her job ording to the club’s rules. Why was Jake threatening her? Plus, using Don Albert’s name as a shield was cowardly. What was he—some cunning fox hiding behind a fierce tiger?
So, Charlie approached Jake and said, “Mr. Dunn, leave the poor girl alone, alright? She’s just fulfilling her duties. Besides, the third floor is quite nice. Even the first floor is luxurious. Why does it matter if you’re on the seventh floor or higher?”
Jake shot back with disdain, “Shut up! For someone like you, being able to drink a ss of water in the club’s lobby is a privilege! But for me, anything below the seventh floor is simply uneptable!”
Charlie chuckled nonchntly, “Well, it doesn’t really matter in the end. This is yourst visit to the club, so you might as well enjoy whatever you can.”
Jake frowned, bewildered. “What do you mean by that?”
“Oh, did you forget what I told you? You’ll be working construction for the next 20 years. This is thest time you get to enjoy the Glorious Club, so a suite on the third floor is the best you can get now. After today, you won’t have ess to any of this.”
Jake’s anger red as he cursed, “Charlie Wade, right? Damn it, you loser! If it weren’t for our fathers-inw being ssmates, do you really think you’d even be allowed in this club? I bet you couldn’t even enter the front door!”
Charlie smiled faintly. “I’ll give you five minutes to think about it. Once the time is up, if you haven’t decided, I’ll make the choice for you.”
Jake smirked defiantly, “What choice? Who do you think you are, loser? I’ll show you what it means to be part of the upper ss!”
He pulled out his phone and quickly made a call.
When the call connected, he switched to a ttering tone, saying, “Hi, Don Albert, it’s Jake Dunn. I need to ask you for a favor…”
