Jacob never imagined he would receive another phone call from Matilda in this lifetime.
What truly took him by surprise was the news that Matilda was returning to China!
After graduating from college, Matilda had headed straight to the United States. She remained there to continue her studies and had not been seen by any of their old ssmates since. It had been over twenty years since that day.
Despite the long separation, hearing her voice stirred something deep within Jacob’s heart.
He quickly asked, “Matilda, are you reallying back to Aurous Hill? When will you arrive?”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
With a smile, Matilda replied, “I’ll be boarding the ne soon. If everything goes ording to n, I shouldnd in Aurous Hill by eleven in the morning. We can have dinner with our old ssmates the day after tomorrow, assuming everything goes smoothly!”
Jacob was filled with excitement. “So, you’ll be back in Aurous Hill tomorrow? Where will you be staying?”
Matilda exined, “My son has booked us a room at the Shangri-La for the next few days. We’ll be there for a short while as we look for a suitable house to buy in Aurous Hill.”
Curiously, Jacob asked, “Will your husband being back with you?”
“No,” Matilda said sadly, “My husband has passed away. That’s the main reason my son and I decided to return to China. We want to leave behind this ce filled with grief and painful memories.”
Jacob felt a rush of joy at her words!
He eximed, “Then would you like to have a meal with me after yound tomorrow? I can pick you up, and we can finally catch up!”
Matilda hesitated for a moment before saying, “Oh, if ine finds out, she might not let you eat alone with me, right?”
Jacob couldn’t help but chuckle at Matilda’sment.
ine?
She was gone!
Hahaha! She had just vanished, and now Matilda was returning to Aurous Hill. Was this a sign from above?
Unable to contain his excitement, Jacob stood up and paced in front of the barbeque stall. “Don’t worry! ine and I are currently experiencing some issues in our rtionship. We’ve already separated, so she won’t interfere in my personal life anymore.”
Matilda looked surprised. “Why are you two separated?”
“Oh…” Jacob sighed, “It’s aplicated and long story…”
Quickly, he added, “Matilda, I’ll pick you up from the airport at noon tomorrow, okay? Since you’ll be at Shangri-La, how about we have a meal there?”
Matilda thought for a moment and replied, “Um…my son will be with me. Wouldn’t that be a bit inappropriate?”
“That’s fine!” Jacob insisted. “I can bring my son-inw along. He’s about the same age as your son. They can chat while we catch up!”
“Okay, then,” Matilda agreed with a smile. “Let’s meet at the airport tomorrow. Don’t forget to make a sign, though—I’m worried we won’t recognize each other after all these years!”<fna2cb> ???? ????s? ???????s ?? Find?Novel</fna2cb>
Jacob replied enthusiastically, “Absolutely! I’ll have a sign ready for you.”
Matilda said, “I won’t keep you any longer. I need to board the ne soon, and it’s a long flight—over twelve hours. I’ll be in Aurous Hill by ten tomorrow morning.”
“Sounds great!” Jacobughed, “I’ll see you at the airport!”
After hanging up the phone, Jacob couldn’t contain his excitement. He felt like a teenager, jumping around with joy.
Charlie found it amusing and quickly asked, “Dad, is your first loveing back?”
