While she appeared to be doing well, deep down, she couldn’t shake the feeling of inadequacy when shepared herself to ire.
As an orphan without either a father or mother, she feltpletely alone in the world. With no one to support or guide her, her job at the orphanage was her only means of living, and even that came from charity. Her earnings were meager, leaving her in a constant struggle.
Despite her financial limitations, she shared a simr mindset to Charlie, often donating her entire sry back to the orphanage. As a result, by the end of each day, she was left with little to nothing to call her own.
In this regard, she felt there was no way topare herself to a sessful career woman like ire.
Feeling a pang of envy, she nervously approached ire and said, “Hello, sister-inw. I’m Lisa Fey. This is our first meeting.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
ire smiled and replied, “Hello, Lisa. I’m ire Wilson.”
Lisa gazed at ire, then eximed, “Sister-inw, I genuinely admire you!”
As she spoke, her eyes shifted to Charlie, and she continued, “I truly envy you for being with such a wonderful man like my brother, Charlie!”
Charlie felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him. He had expected Lisa to envy ire for her beauty, physique, or charm, but instead, she voiced admiration for ire’s rtionship with him.
It was evident that Lisa had always looked up to him, even during their upbringing at the orphanage. Despite his struggles andck of wealth, she still regarded him as a remarkable individual.
ire found herself at a loss, unsure whether tough or cry at the heartfelt words.
Lisa, however, remained earnest as she said, “Sister-inw, Brother Charlie is truly the best man I’ve ever known. You must treat him well! He has always been responsible, caring for all his brothers and sisters since childhood. After he left the orphanage at eighteen, he worked relentlessly on a construction site, donating every penny he earned to the orphanage to improve our lives and provide us an education. Among all the children who grew up there, Charlie is the only one who still gives back. Sister-inw, don’t you think he’s the best man in the world?”
ire was taken aback by Lisa’s heartfelt words.
While she was aware that Charlie had faced challenges before their marriage, she learned for the first time that he had been working at a construction site since he was eighteen. Moreover, she had no idea that he had been donating his hard-earned money to the orphanage.
It all made sense now—no wonder he had been broke when they got married and had to ask her grandfather for money just to cut his hair before their wedding.
Realizing the dedication he had put into raising funds for Mrs. Lewis’s medical care, ire felt a surge of admiration for her husband.
She couldn’t help but ask him, “Why didn’t you ever tell me any of this?”
Charlie shrugged, replying softly, “Why would I bring up my days of living in poverty?”
After saying that, he seemed eager to change the subject and asked Lisa, “By the way, Lisa, where is Mrs. Lewis?”
Lisa responded, “Mrs. Lewis is in a meeting with the dean about some work issues. She asked me to entertain you all until she arrives.”<fnb708> This text is hosted at </fnb708>
Then, with a hopeful expression, Lisa asked, “Brother Charlie, would you like toe in and take a look around the orphanage? It’s been a while since you werest here!”
