Upon hearing that her grandmother had taken vegetables from their yard, ire let out a resigned sigh and said, “Mom, if it’s grandma, just let her be. She can take whatever she wants; it’s just some vegetables.”
ine shot back with disdain, “Oh no, you can’t just say that! What has your grandma ever done for us? Have you forgotten how she treated us? After everything, she has the nerve to steal vegetables from our yard?! No way, I can’t allow it!”
ire shook her head sadly. “Mom, don’t overthink this. Grandma just wants some fresh vegetables for herself. Don’t be so stingy.”
ine huffed in annoyance, “You’re such a traitor, hmph!” She then stormed upstairs, fuming as she returned to her room.<fncd7d> Fresh chapters posted on f?ndnovel</fncd7d>
As ine contemted the situation further, she began to feel that they were losing out. Their vegetable garden was thriving, and she didn’t want to share even a single leaf with Lady Wilson! Yet ire seemed indifferent to the matter. If they allowed Lady Wilson to take vegetables now, she would surely do it time and time again.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Determined, ine hurried out of her room, made her way to the kitchen door, and called out to Charlie, “Charlie,e here. I need to talk to you.”
Charlie nodded and approached her.
In a hushed tone, ine said, “Charlie, I want to remind you to be vignt about protecting our vegetable garden. After all the effort we put into it for ire, I know Lady Wilson well after living with her for years. If you overlook or even tolerate her actions like ire does, she’ll likely take all our vegetables by tomorrow.”
Having been part of the Wilson family for more than three years, Charlie understood their dynamics well. He recognized the different personalities within the family and, apart from ire, whom he viewed as genuinely good-hearted, he believed only Jacob had potential for redemption. The rest, including ine and Lady Wilson, he regarded as unworthy.
Charlie knew that if he didn’t take action, Lady Wilson would indeed continue her thievery, just as ine had warned. With a n forming in his mind, he asked, “Mom, do you know which vegetable grandma likes the most?”
ine bit her lip, thinking hard. “Well, I’d guess her favorite is chives! She never cooks, but if you mention dumplings with chives and eggs, she’ll gather the ingredients and even make the dumplings herself! Yes, chives are definitely her favorite!”
“Alright,” Charlie said, a knowing smile forming. ‘She loves chives… perfect.’
He then stepped away to a private corner and called Zeke.
As soon as Zeke picked up, he greeted, “Hello, Master Wade! How do you feel about the vegetable garden we set upst night? Did your wife enjoy it?”
“Yes, she loved it,” Charlie replied. “But I called because I need you to handle something else for me.”
“Of course! Just let me know, Master Wade,” Zeke responded eagerly.
Charlie instructed, “I need you to find dozens of pots of the finest daffodils, but I only want the ones with green leaves—no flowers.”
Zeke paused, considering Charlie’s request. “Master Wade, daffodils are poisonous. I understand if you want a few, but arge quantity might be unsafe.”
Charlie chuckled lightly. “I’m aware of their toxicity, but there’s no need to worry. Just make sure to prepare them and deliver them to me before noon.”
Zeke quickly agreed, “Alright, Master Wade, I’ll take care of it.”

As Lady Wilson returned home with a basket of vegetables she had pilfered from Charlie’s yard, Hannah came in at the same time and asked, “Did you get the meat I requested?”
Hannah nodded, “Yes, and I didn’t just buy meat; I got a lot of vegetables too.”
