Leann was the epitome of an egoist.
In every situation, her sole focus was whether it would offer her any advantage.
If someone, even a garbage collector on the street, could provide her with a benefit, she would greet him with a cheerful smile and open arms.
Conversely, if a person had nothing to offer her, she wouldn’t hesitate to dismiss them, no matter how important they might be—like the President of the United States.
Even when Charlie and his wife arrived in luxury cars worth over one hundred million dors to celebrate Isabe’s wedding, it did nothing to alter Leann’s view of her.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Leann understood that showing respect was merely superficial; only tangible benefits mattered to her.
So what if Isabe had a wealthy and influential friend? Would that friend ever contribute even a penny to their needs? Would he manage their family business in the future? Could he elevate their entire family to new heights?
If Isabe could deliver those benefits, Leann would certainly treat her with kindness, even revering her as if she were her grandmother!
However, if she couldn’t, then Isabe would never be weed into their family.
Leann only agreed to host the wedding banquet because she wanted to avoid directly opposing the marriage, fearing it would lead her son to resent her. Thus, she went along with the celebration while secretly nning to find fault with Isabe. Her intention was to make sarcastic remarks to pressure Isabe into backing out of the marriage, ensuring her son wouldn’t me her for the oue.
Leann had plenty of reasons lined up to create trouble for Isabe. The most significant one was the absence of Isabe’s parents at the wedding.
With this in mind, Leann approached Isabe and coldly asked, “Isabe, where are your parents? Why aren’t they here?”
Isabe quickly responded, “Auntie, my parents, they…”
As she spoke, she hesitated, keenly aware that it was quite unreasonable for her parents to miss her wedding day. Yet, she struggled to find the right words, especially with her future mother-inw facing her so directly.
Noticing Isabe’s silence, Leann snapped, “Oh, Isabe, it seems you think quite highly of yourself. Do you really believe your future mother-inw means nothing to you just because you’ve made a few wealthy friends? You’re being so distant and giving me such a half-hearted response!”
Isabe quickly waved her hand and respectfully exined, “Auntie, I won’t hide the truth. My parents are not very pleased, so they might note to the wedding today. I hope you can understand!”
“Oh!” Leann eximed in anger. “Does this mean your family looks down on ours? How fascinating! Your own daughter is getting married, yet your parents can’t even be bothered to attend! Just look around—do you see any parents in Aurous Hill who behave like yours? If this news gets out, how will the Carson family maintain their reputation?”
With tears in her eyes, Isabe hurriedly apologized, “I’m truly sorry, Auntie. My parents are in a unique situation. They’ve been upset about the dowry and were not happy when I left home this morning. Please try to understand my circumstances…”<fn75d5> Read full story at Find1Novel</fn75d5>
“Upset?” Leann furrowed her brows upon hearing this before shouting, “This is absolutely ridiculous! What is your family’s backgroundpared to ours? If you’re marrying into our family, you should consider it a significant step up! Why is your family looking down on us? If they disapprove, they should have prevented you from marrying into our family!”
