A man and a woman sat at a table, exuding an air of luxury and elegance, regardless of their individual appearances, personalities, or casual attire.
The man appeared somewhat worn and haggard, his face and lipscking their usual color. At first nce, he seemed to be suffering from a chronic illness or perhaps even on the brink of death.
In contrast, the woman beside him was strikingly beautiful and well-groomed. She bore a resemnce to Stefanie, looking to be in her thirties.
Charlie instantly recognized them; they were Uncle Orrin and his wife, Angie, figures from his childhood.
As soon as Charlie identified them, both Orrin and Angie recognized him as well!<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Orrin Sun’s expression was one of sheer shock. His already thin face seemed to pale further as his eyes widened. He trembled, struggling to form words that seemed to catch in his throat.
Meanwhile, Angie stood frozen in disbelief. She pointed at Charlie, her mouth covering her astonished expression: “You… you… you are… Wade… Are you Charlie???”
Feeling a lump in his throat, Charlie sighed softly and replied, his voice shaking, “Angie, yes, I am Charlie…”
He then turned to Orrin, who was still visibly shaken and unable to articte his emotions, saying with a quiver in his voice, “Uncle Orrin… Hello! And Angie, how are you!”
Orrin, staring at him in disbelief, murmured, “Is it really you, Charlie Wade?”
Charlie nodded earnestly, responding, “Uncle Orrin, it’s me, I’m Charlie. Do you still remember me?”<fn81f7> N?w ?ovel chapt?rs are published on f?i?n?d?n?o?v?e?l?</fn81f7>
“I recognize you… I recognize you…” Orrin wiped away tears, his voice choked with emotion. “You look just like your father did when he was young, and you resemble the photos of your grandfather from his youth…”
With great effort, he rose from his seat and slowly made his way toward Charlie.
Quick to assist, Charlie stepped forward, supporting Orrin, and expressed his gratitude and guilt: “Uncle Orrin, I’m sorry for all the worry you and Aunt Angie have endured over the years…”
Orrin, wiping away tears, replied emotionally, “Charlie, where have you been all this time? I’ve traveled nearly everywhere trying to find you, but I had no leads…”
Charlie let out a heartfelt sigh: “Uncle Orrin, I’ve actually been in Aurous Hill all these years, growing up in an orphanage until I turned eighteen.”
“What?!” Orrin eximed. “I visited Aurous Hill several times to look for you, checking the welfare home, the orphanage, and the rescue station, but there was no sign of you…”
Charlie exined, “Uncle Orrin, back then, Stephen Thompson, the Wade family’s housekeeper, arranged for someone to take over the orphanage secretly. He wanted to protect me from potential harm, so he concealed all my information. I only realized something was amiss after meeting your daughter a few days ago. That’s when I approached Stephen, and he revealed the hidden details to me…”
Orrin paused in contemtion before nodding, understanding dawning on him. “I see now! It seems Stephen Thompson is indeed a man of gratitude. Your father treated him with great respect, and he has proven himself loyal!”
