The temperature in Eastcliff dropped dramatically as night fell, bringing with it a flurry of heavy snowkes swirling in the air.
Charlie received an alert on his phone indicating that Eastcliff had issued a blue Blizzard warning, which would be in effect from tonight until tomorrow afternoon.
Dressed only in a light shirt, Charlie stepped out onto the balcony of the guest room, his thoughts consumed by memories of his parents.
Tomorrow, he nned to visit his parents’ grave—a task he had contemted for the past eighteen years but had never acted upon.
Lost in his thoughts, he was suddenly interrupted by Stefanie’s voice: “Charlie, aren’t you cold dressed like that?”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Turning around, Charlie noticed that Stefanie had quietly entered the room and stood at the balcony door.
Stefanie quickly exined, “Sorry, Charlie! I knocked, but when you didn’t answer, I let myself in.”
Charlie smiled softly and replied, “No worries; there’s no need to be so formal between us.”<fncfd0> N?w ?ovel chapt?rs are published on findnovel</fncfd0>
At that moment, a blush crept onto Stefanie’s cheeks.
She approached Charlie and asked, “Were you lost in thought just now?”
Charlie nodded, responding, “Yes, I was reflecting on the past.”
Stefanie gently touched his hand and held on tightly, expressing her gratitude, “Charlie, I can’t thank you enough for helping my father. You saved his life!”
Charlie replied earnestly, “Uncle Orrin is a dear friend of my father and someone I deeply respect. I couldn’t just stand by and watch him suffer without doing something to help.”
“Exactly!” Stefanie agreed, her voice firm. “How long will you be in Eastcliff this time? I won’t be at the board meeting tomorrow, and after we visit Uncle Wade and Aunt Wade’s grave, are you heading back?”
Charlie exined, “I have some personal matters to attend to the day after tomorrow, but I’ll return once I’m done.”
Stefanie’s expression shifted to one of disappointment and sadness. She looked up at him with hopeful eyes and asked, “Can’t you stay just a few more days? It’s almost Chinese New Year. Why not celebrate it at my house?”
Chuckling, Charlie replied, “There are still twenty days until Chinese New Year. If I don’t return soon, I’ll have a lot of exining to do to your sister-inw.”
Stefanie frowned, saying, “I refuse to acknowledge her as my sister-inw! You’re not really my brother; you’re the fiancé I’ve believed in since childhood!”
Charlie shook his head with a smile, “Alright, whatever you say.”
However, a wave of disappointment washed over Stefanie as she thought, “Every time we talk, Charlie reminds me in some way that he’s married! Doesn’t he understand how important his parents’ lives are? I’ve managed to keep my feelings in check for so long; why can’t he?”
With a sigh, Stefanie tightened her grip on Charlie’s hand, speaking with a touch of sadness, “Charlie, you’re the heir of the Wade family, and you have so much potential. Aurous Hill can’t hold you forever; you’ll have to return to Eastcliff eventually.”
Charlie paused before responding calmly, “Let’s cross that bridge when wee to it.”
……
That night, Charlie experienced a surreal dream.
In this dream, his parents were alive, and he was still the young master of the Wade family, manding great attention in Eastcliff and wielding significant influence.
He envisioned himself in a sharp suit, adorned with a groom’s boutonnière, leading avish convoy to the Sun family’s opulent vi.
Inside the vi, he saw Stefanie, radiant in a beautiful white wedding dress, sitting on her bed and smiling at her reflection.
Suddenly, a group of unfamiliar young men and women rushed around, searching for Stefanie’s red shoes.
