Charlie had grown somewhat desensitized to Loreen’s constant expressions of affection.
Thinking she was just joking with herself, he decided to change the topic and asked, “By the way, where did your cousin Sam ride his bicycle?”
Loreen pouted in disappointment. She was well aware that Charlie often avoided emotional discussions, and she had learned to ept his behavior. As he shifted the conversation, she followed suit, saying, “I heard he reached the next town this morning, but apparently, he spent the night under a bridge and caught a cold.”
Charlie smiled faintly in response, saying, “By the time he gets to Aurous Hill, he should be in much better shape.”
Loreen chuckled, “Honestly, this punishment might be good for him. My cousin can be quite arrogant and domineering. He often causes trouble for the family but has never faced any real consequences before. After this experience, I believe he’ll be a bit more cautious.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Charlie nodded slightly, “If it weren’t for you, I would have made him swallow the jade pendant at the birthday banquet and then have surgery to remove it. Someone like him just gets over the scars without learning from the pain. Perhaps a reminder will help him understand what truly matters.”
Loreen looked at Charlie and said, “Knowing you’re considering my feelings, I’ll let him off this time. Once he arrives in Aurous Hill, I’ll take him out to dinner to apologize to you properly.”
Charlie waved his hand dismissively, “It’s fine for him to offer a toast or whatever, but he needs to focus on reforming himself in Aurous Hill. If he behaves well, he might get to go home early. If not, the deadline can always be extended.”<fn3e76> For original chapters go to f?ndnovel</fn3e76>
Loreen pursed her lips, “You shouldn’t be so strict. If we end up together in the future, he’ll be your brother-inw. Even though he’s my cousin, he’s still part of the family!”
Charlie shook his head in exasperation, “You’re always bringing that up…”
“Hehe.” Loreen smiled, “What can I say? I like you! Just know that I’m always here, so if you ever figure things out, feel free to reach out!”
Charlie chose to ignore herment and nced up at therge screen, saying, “Hey, it looks like they’ve started boarding first-ss and business-ss passengers. Let’s go.”
Loreen nodded and began packing her things, casually asking, “Did you tell ire that we’reing back together today?”
Charlie replied, “I let her know on WeChatst night.”
Loreen teased, “You weren’t feeling jealous at all, right?”
“Why would I be jealous?” Charlie responded. “She knew I was attending your grandma’s birthday banquet, so I told her you wanted to return and that you booked the ticket for me.”
Loreen smiled and nodded, “Did you tell ire about the fan worth tens of millions that you gave my grandma?”
“No,” Charlie replied. “Don’t mention that to ire. She doesn’t know about my connection with Chairman Sun.”
“I understand,” Loreen said earnestly. “Don’t worry, I won’t say a word to her.”
Feeling relieved, Charlie and Loreen proceeded to board the ne through the VIP gate.
Seated next to each other in first ss, Loreen opted for the window seat while Charlie took the one beside her.
Once on board, Charlie received a call from ire, who asked cheerfully, “Husband, are you on the ne?”
“Yes, just boarded. We’ll be taking off in about twenty minutes,” Charlie responded.
ire continued, “Loreen is with you, right?”
“Yes,” Charlie confirmed. “She’s sitting next to me.”
ire then said, “Make sure to take care of her.”
Charlie replied, a bit helplessly, “I’m not the one flying the ne. The flight attendants will handle everyone’s food and drinks. What more can I do?”
Loreen leaned closer to the phone, grinning as she said, “You could always hug me if the ne hits turbulence, just to make sure I don’t get thrown around…”
Assuming Loreen was joking, ireughed and said, “Just buckle your seatbelt! What if Charlie can’t get to you in time?”
