Confronted by the furious Cynthia, Charlie wore a calm smile and remarked, “It’s a big New Year, yet instead of preparing in Eastcliff, you’vee to Aurous Hill to cause trouble for me, meddle with my mother-inw, and push for my divorce. If you can create chaos, why can’t I toy with you a bit?”
Cynthia’s face briefly showed embarrassment before she clenched her teeth and retorted, “I’m doing this for your own good! Look at your wife. How can she possibly deserve you?”
Charlie responded coolly, “Does my wife deserve me? I don’t need your judgments. Today is just a little wake-up call for you. If you know what’s good for you, head back to Eastcliff right away. Otherwise, I might just leave you here in Aurous Hill for the New Year.”
Cynthia was instantly enraged!
She attempted to stand but was forcefully pushed back down by the man in ck beside her. Gritting her teeth, she yelled, “Charlie! Do you dare to threaten me?!”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Charlie nodded, his expression nk. “Right now, yes, I’m threatening you. If you really push me, I might just resort to physical action.”
“You wouldn’t dare!” Cynthia shot back defiantly. “If youy a finger on me, I will fight back!”
Charlie scoffed, “Even my subordinates could easily take you down. Why should I hesitate? The only reason I’m not hitting you is that I don’t want to soil my hands.”
Cynthia screamed in fury, “Whoever touches me will pay for it! And your mother-inw? That shrew had the audacity to hit me too! I swear I’ll make her regret it!”
Charlie raised an eyebrow, slightly frowning. “What? Still so arrogant? Fine, if you refuse to leave, let’s ring in the New Year right here in Aurous Hill!”
Cynthia shouted back, “Are you nning to detain me?!”
“Yes,” Charlie replied, nodding. “You used the right word—detain.”
Fuming, Cynthia eximed, “You’re so bold!”
Charlie replied calmly, “I don’t need your permission; I’ve made my decision. If you’re not satisfied, you can leave whenever you decide to ept the situation!”
Cynthia shrieked, “Charlie! I’m still your elder! I’m your aunt! You can’t treat me like this!”
“Elder?” Charlie’s tone turned icy. “You keep iming to be my elder and aunt. I have a question: Where were you when I was in the orphanage?”
Cynthia fell silent.
“And when I was an adult working on a construction site, where were you then?” Charlie pressed on.
Cynthia remained speechless.
“Also, when I got married, where was my aunt?” he continued.
Cynthia’s face darkened; she wanted to argue but couldn’t figure out how to start.
Charlie added, “You, my aunt, never showed any concern for me or offered any help. Life teaches us to rely on ourselves, but instead of supporting me, you came to meddle in my marriage. What’s your real intention?”
“I… I…” Cynthia stammered, “I just thought you’d be better off without ire! She doesn’t deserve you!”
Charlie replied, “Then I think I’ll keep you in Aurous Hill to help you learn some humility. After all, if you don’t learn to control your temperament, you might end up causing a disaster—for yourself!”
Cynthia gritted her teeth, “Dare you! Give me a phone; I want to call your grandpa!”<fn87e6> For original chapters go to FιndNovel</fn87e6>
Charlie handed her his phone nonchntly and said, “Go ahead, call him now!”
Once he spoke, he instructed the man in ck beside her, “Unlock her handcuffs.”
The man in ckplied immediately.
As Cynthia regained the use of her hands, she snatched the phone from Charlie, quickly dialed a number, and pressed call.
After a few rings, a deep, aged voice came through. “Hello, who is this?”
Hearing her father’s voice, Cynthia cried out, “Dad, it’s me, Dad!”
