“You’ve got Charlie’s dog legs! Don’t you dare let me stay in here! Once I’m out, I’ll settle scores with you one by one!”
“Do you really think I’m confused? Just let me out now!!!”
Cynthia’s agitation grew as she yelled, her voice cracking with each word: “Cough cough cough…cough cough cough…If you don’t let me out, I swear I’ll throw you all into the Yangtze River to feed the fish! I want to take you down one by one, so you’ll never see another day!”
It’s no surprise that Cynthia was in a frenzy. After spending nine days in a ce filled with the lowest-end of society, she felt utterly defeated.
Living in Aurous Hill, south of the Yangtze River, she endured a damp winter without any heating or air conditioning in her rental. Each day, she could only cry into her damp quilt while lying on the bed.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
From the moment she moved in, she eagerly anticipated the end of her seven-day confinement.
However, to her dismay, after seven days, Don Albert refused to let her go.<fn70a0> ?? ??? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???????s, ????s? ??s?? fι?dnοvel</fn70a0>
This situation sparked not only anger in Cynthia but overwhelming fear as well.
She worried that Charlie might suddenly change his mind, rendering the seven-day agreement void and leaving her in limbo without a clear release date, resulting in her continued house arrest.
Thus, she screamed daily, hoping to attract the neighbors’ attention, to draw in the police, and to pressure Charlie and his henchmen into releasing her.
Unbeknownst to her, Don Albert had already relocated all the neighbors just the day before.
This self-constructed building housed about 30 residents, including thendlord, and now, aside from Cynthia, everyone was enjoying their stay in a makeshift five-star hotel.
As a result, no one paid any attention to Cynthia’s desperate cries.
Her voice grew hoarse, yet still, no one responded—not the neighbors, nor even the police officers who came to investigate themotion.
Feeling utterly defeated, Cynthia pulled out her mobile phone and sent a video message to her father, Lord Wade, who was far away in Eastcliff.
As the video connected, Cynthia sobbed, “Dad! Please, make that jerk Charlie let me go… I can’t take this anymore… If he doesn’t release me, I might as well die here…uuuuuu…”
Lord Wade sighed with a mix of helplessness and concern as he appeared on the screen.
He knew his daughter well and understood that she wouldn’t harm herself, so he replied firmly: “Cynthia! Calm down! It’s only two more days, right? Be patient. I’m sure Charlie won’t keep you locked up much longer; he might even let you out in the next couple of days.”
Cynthia, still crying, responded, “Dad! You don’t understand what I’ve been through these past nine days! I’ve never suffered like this in my life! If you don’t talk to that jerk Charlie, he won’t let me go. What if he keeps me here indefinitely?”
As she spoke, her voice filled with desperation, she pleaded, “Please, Dad, just give him a call and ask him to let me go back!”
Lord Wade replied with seriousness, “Cynthia, I’ve already asked Orrin to persuade Charlie, and I’ve promised to return for the ancestor worship ceremony at the Spring Festival. This is extremely important for the Wade family; we cannot afford anyplications. If you force Charlie’s hand and he changes his mind because of you, it would be a significant loss for our family!”
Cynthia began toprehend the situation.
Her father was unwilling to pressure Charlie primarily to avoid offending him on her behalf!
Feeling let down by her father, Cynthia cried out in despair, “Dad! What if Charlie refuses to let me go? What will I do then?”
Her father quickly reassured her, “Oh, Cynthia, if he doesn’t let you go by the Spring Festival, I will definitely demand an exnation from him.”
But Cynthia felt hopeless: “Dad! The Spring Festival is nearly two months away in April!”
