Thanks to the support of the etiquettedies, Wendy has taken her first significant step in assuming control of the Pearl etiquettepany. She worked diligently at the office untilte into the night, finally catching thest bus to drag her weary self back to Thompson First Vi.
Since Wendy began working, the Wilson family has managed to avoid going hungry. They have some rice at home, so while they can’t indulge invish meals, at least Lady Wilson, Christopher, and Harold aren’t starving. A simple pot of steamed white rice is enough to keep their hunger at bay.
When Wendy arrived home, Mrs. Wilson had just finished serving Christopher and Harold their white rice. She had prepared a small bowl for herself, adding boiling water and a sprinkle of salt to it, and was eating alone.
Noticing Wendy’ste return, she couldn’t help but express her frustration: “Wendy, why are you back sote today? I’ve been home taking care of your father and brother, and I’m exhausted! You didn’t think to finish work early and help me out?”
Wendy replied apologetically, “I’m sorry, Grandma. There were a lot of things to handle at thepany, so I got dyed…”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Lady Wilson responded with dissatisfaction, “Isn’t it just a matter of being a courtesydy? You’re bringing in money, but why are youing home at this hour?”
Harold, who was lying on the bed, chimed in, “Yeah, Wendy! I was really looking forward to having a bowl of preserved egg and lean meat porridge today. I was waiting for you to earn some money and then buy half a catty of pork and two preserved eggs, but I’m still waiting…”<fn3bd4> ???? ????s? ???????s ?? find~novel</fn3bd4>
Christopher, lying next to Harold, sighed and said, “Wendy, I’ve been having cramps for two days. It hurts so much, and it seems like I’m suffering from severe malnutrition and calcium deficiency. Can you find a way to get a box of calcium tablets for Dad?”
Seeing the sad state of her father and brother made Wendy’s heart ache. She longed to share all the exciting news about her day, including how Charlie had given her the incredible opportunity to manage apany with a monthly sry of 10,000. However, remembering Charlie’s request for discretion, she held back her excitement and said, “Dad, brother, hang in there. Thepany is going to promote me to manager. I’ll be earning 10,000 a month. Tomorrow, I’ll ask the finance team to advance me half a month’s sry. I promise I’ll improve our family’s living conditions.”
Christopher’s eyes lit up with surprise. “Wendy, is that true?! Are you really a manager now?!”
Harold quickly interjected, “Wendy, does that mean you really earn 10,000 a month?!”
Wendy nodded earnestly, confirming, “Yes, I really do earn 10,000 a month.” She added, “Charlie even bought me thetest Apple phone because I didn’t have one…”
“Wow!” Harold eximed excitedly. “Sister! You’re going to be so sessful! Ten thousand is incredible! Your boss is so generous to give you a phone!”
Mrs. Wilson, overwhelmed with emotion, wiped her tears and said, “If Wendy truly earns 10,000 a month, that’s over 300 a day! With that kind of money, our family will be so much better off!”
Then, Mrs. Wilson began to calcte, “Currently, pork costs about 20 a catty, and ordinary rice is around three. For our family of four, if we buy one catty of pork and two catties of rice each day, plus some vegetables, our daily food expenses would be around 70 or 80. If we add in a few bottles of milk for calcium, we’d be spending about 100 a day. That still leaves us with a surplus of a hundred!”<h3 ss="has-text-align-center" id="chapter-list"><strong></strong>
