He reiterated, “Do you recall that well-known director who was often vague with others? His wife, rather than being upset, publicly stated that her husband was being taken advantage of. However, if the situation were reversed and it involved a woman, she would be ruthlessly criticized in the public eye!”
Deana offered a slight smile and replied, “Uncle White, you’re overthinking this. My intention is simply to purchase the house where Bruce Wade lived. It holds precious memories for me, and aside from that, I have no interest in being involved in scandals or rtionships with other men. If the world can’t ept my feelings, then I certainly don’t need their eptance.”
The elderly housekeeper interjected anxiously, “Second Miss, that’s not my concern. While I believe it’s fine for you to buy the house, the current circumstances are rather delicate.”
“You and Zayne are still married, so I think it’s best if you don’t attend the auction in person. I could find an independent third party to ce a bid on your behalf. After the auction, they could hold temporary ownership until your divorce from Zayne is finalized, at which point the house could be transferred to you. This way, we can avoid any potential bacsh.”
Deana waved her hand, speaking earnestly: “Uncle White, I miss Bruce, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I have nothing to hide. If I let someone else bid for me and then take ownership afterward, it would only make it seem like I have a guilty conscience.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
The old butler sighed, filled with regret. “Second Miss! There’s something I hesitate to mention, but I feel I must! The Banks family has always been extremely hostile. You witnessed what transpired a while back. They are capable of betraying their own family. This shows that their morals are practically nonexistent. If you insist on participating in this auction, you will surely offend them.”
Deana furrowed her brow in confusion. “I simply don’t understand. Zayne kept his illegitimate daughter hidden for 20 years and then brazenly brought her around me for several years. Why should I be concerned about offending the Banks family?”
The old housekeeper quickly responded, “Miss, many things are not as straightforward as they seem. In high society, the treatment of men and women is indeed very different. You can’t ignore that reality.”
Deana smiled gently. “Uncle White, please don’t try to dissuade me. I have made my decision. If you don’t arrange it, I will handle it myself. I must attend this auction, and I will do so freely!”
The old butler hesitated for a long moment before finally giving in with a resigned sigh. “Very well, Second Miss. I will make the necessary arrangements.”
Meanwhile, at the Thompson First vi, Charlie received a call from Isaac Cameron.
“Master,” Isaac said over the phone, “the auction scheduled for Monday has now been moved offline.”
“Oh?” Charlie replied, surprised. “What prompted the change?”
Isaac exined, “After some investigation, I even enlisted the help of an informant in Eastcliff. The information suggests that the Banks family is mediating this situation.”
“The Banks family?!” Charlie frowned. “Why would they want to interfere with this auction?”
“I’m not sure,” Isaac admitted. “I haven’t delved deeper into the matter, but you should maintain a low profile regardless.”
He quickly added, “It’s primarily because this house is very sensitive. It was the residence of your parents. If anyonepetes for it, it implies a connection to your parents, and I fear the Banks family might discover you. If they do find you, I can’t predict what they might do, but your identity will certainly be exposed.”
Charlie nodded in agreement. “You’re right. Where will the auction be held on Monday?”
Isaac replied, “It will take ce at the Treasure Pavilion, where you previously bid for ms with the so-called metaphysic master, Jack Yaleman.”<fnf7e4> This update is avable on Find★Novel</fnf7e4>
Charlie’s eyes widened in realization. “I see! I remember there’s a VIP box there. Please ask Charles, who is in charge, to reserve one for me. Then have your driver attend the auction on my behalf; I’ll observe from the box without drawing attention.”
