“How is this possible?” Jacob eximed with emotion. “I will never forget what happened that day, even if it costs me my life. I’ve wanted to tell you for so many years, but I never had the chance. I finally mustered the courage to speak, and you didn’t let me finish…”<fnd4b2> This content belongs to f?i?n?d?n?o?v?e?l?</fnd4b2>

Matilda responded helplessly, “I didn’t stop you from saying it; I just… am who I am.”
Feeling unsure about how to continue the conversation, Matilda sighed and added, “Honestly, I just think that if youe to see me sote, ine will definitely be upset if she finds out. You should head back soon to avoid making her angry.”
When Jacob heard ine’s name, he scoffed and replied, “Matilda, please don’t mention that nagging woman in front of me. If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t be in this situation—already married with two or three kids.”
Matilda smiled lightly and said earnestly, “Some things are just fate; you can’t really me anyone.”
After saying that, Jacob waved dismissively and stated, “Let’s not talk about her anymore. It’s too disheartening.”
Matilda nodded and suggested, “I think I should lie down for a bit. You need to take your time to recover. If you have any issues at home, return early to avoid anyplications.”
Jacob was taken aback that as soon as Matilda got to her house, she was eager for him to leave. This stung a bit, but he quickly attributed it all to ine, thinking to himself, “I want to go back home, but I definitely don’t want to deal with that insufferable woman. She’s everywhere, causing trouble.”
Feeling frustrated, he dered, “I’m not leaving until you recover. I won’t go anywhere. ine doesn’t matter to me; in my mind, she isn’t even worth considering.”
He was adamant about his feelings, saying, “Your well-being is what matters most to me.”
Matilda seemed to struggle toe back to the present moment. Jacob checked the time and hurriedly said, “Just five minutes, show me the thermometer.”
Matilda carefully retrieved the thermometer and handed it to Jacob.
Jacob nced at the reading, letting out a sigh of relief. “It’s 39 degrees now. You measured it at 39.2 earlier, right?”
Matilda nodded in confirmation.
With a smile, Jacob said, “It’s dropped by 0.2 degrees. While that’s not a huge drop, at least it’s a start. If you rest and eat something, you should be able to recover. I’ll help you upstairs.”
Matilda quickly interjected, “Or I can just lie here and eat a little. It’s fine.”
Jacob insisted, “Isn’t it ufortable sitting here? The longer you sit, the more ufortable it’ll be. Come on, I’ll help you to the bed, and we can prop you up with some pillows. You’ll feel much better. As for eating, I’ll feed you.”
Matilda hesitated for a moment, but seeing Jacob’s determination, she finally agreed, “Okay, then, help me to the elevator.”
Jacob felt a surge of happiness and couldn’t help but chuckle, “Haha, the opportunity has arrived!”
NEXT CHAPTER
