2
CHAPTER 2639

Once upon a time, the Concorde was the sole supersonic airliner in the world that operatedmercially.

Many young individuals today might not even be aware of this remarkable aircraft, yet its legacy has significantly impacted civil aviation history.

When we reflect on the evolution of human science and technology over recent decades, an intriguing trend emerges: in recent years, advancements in science and technology have been rtively conservative.

In contrast, the era of the Cold War, spanning from the 1960s to the 1980s, marked a golden age of unrestrained technological growth and innovation.

People during this time exhibited remarkable enthusiasm and radicalism in the scientific realm.

Despiteputers having far lessputing power than even basic educational machines of today, both the Soviet Union and the United States made historic strides in space exploration, with astronauts reaching the moon.

During this period, public interest in conventional subsonicmercial aircraft waned as society eagerly embraced the dawn of supersonic travel.

The Concorde, capable of flying at twice the speed of sound, officially entered service in 1975, allowing travelers to experience speeds of 2,150 kilometers per hour.

To put this in perspective, a flight from Eastcliff to Aurous Hill now takes nearly two hours, while aboard the Concorde, it would take just 25 minutes.

Sadly, despite its remarkable speed, the Concorde’s fuel efficiency was abysmal, leading to its retirement frommercial aviation in 2003 following an economic downturn and a major ident. Since then, this aircraft hasrgely faded from public memory, although a few have been meticulously preserved.

Remarkably, these preserved Concordes have be prized possessions of the ultra-wealthy.

One such owner is Charlie’s grandfather, Lord Wade, who owns a Concorde.

This aircraft, purchased at a considerable cost, has undergone extensive modifications and maintenance, amounting to tens of millions of dors in annual upkeep.

Despite this investment, Lord Wade rarely gets the opportunity to fly it, often taking to the skies only once a year.

For elite families, owning such an aircraft symbolizes power—akin to nuclear weapons for nations. It may remain unused for years or even decades, but can be activated swiftly in the event of a significant need.

Isaac Cameron had a brilliant idea: if Lord Wade would agree to lend his Concorde to Charlie, it could facilitate a trip to Syria in just four and a half hours!

However, Lord Wade holds this aircraft in very high regard; he has never lent it out to anyone, not even to his own children.

As a mere spokesperson for the Wade family in Aurous Hill, Isaac Cameroncked direct ess to Lord Wade, leaving Charlie the responsibility of reaching out to him.

Charlie was immediately energized by this possibility.

Unable to contain his excitement, he eximed, “That’s fantastic! With a Concorde, we can cut our travel time in half!”

He quickly pulled out his phone and dered, “I’m calling him now. I have to borrow this ne!”

Isaac Cameron, looking somewhat concerned, cautioned, “Master, I’ve heard that your grandfather is very protective of this aircraft. He has never lent it out, so I worry he might refuse your request.”

Charlie replied firmly, “No matter what, please make the call and let’s give it a shot!”

With that determination, he dialed Lord Wade’s number.

The phone rang just twice before the call connected.
